I remember being 9 or 10 years old and seeing this clip on tv in passing. At the time, HATED my curls, but for some reason, whenever I wanted to straighten my hair, I would remember Nicole Kidman's voice telling me "DON'T STRAIGHTEN YOUR CURLS". I'm so glad I listened to her because I love my curly hair now and I'm so glad I didn't straighten it.
@lygophilia4127 Жыл бұрын
You can get your curls back after straightening though. You have to use the right products, and it'll take time. Might have to grow out all the damaged straighten hair to get it to be good as new again. She probably just tried to wear curly in between straightening.

Backwards it's difficult to let your hair grow out back to curly especially for someone who gets paid for their looks like Nicole Kidman. I stopped putting heat on my hair to let my curls grow 2 years ago and my curls aren't even past my ears yet (when you pull the hair straight it's past my chin). I'm sure she could do it but it would be a huge sacrifice.
@krashd7 жыл бұрын
Girls never go for a skinhead (why would they?) but I think Nicole meant you can't re-curl straightened hair, even if you shorten it, hair has mass and thus weight so it won't re-curl if it has been flattened out - but shave it all off and it will grow in exactly like it did when you were 10 or 14 or 20, only living hair has a memory, new hair will grow in as it always would have, according to your heritage. Guys see this all the time, obviously we rarely alter our hair like girls do, but a "number 1" all over shaves your head back down to nothing and your hair comes back in it's natural form, no conditioning, no altering.

About the curly hair, I totally agree with Nicole. My mum took me to a salon and do a permanent straight when I was 10. I like it at first, but then the curly hair grew out after around 6 months and I have to keep straighten them (which damage the hair quite a lot) because if I don't, then the top would be curly and the bottom part of my hair would be straight, and it looked funny. So I continued to do permanent straight every year at summer before school starts. By the time I was 21, I got really fed up with this, I just let my hair all grow natural. But I realise they never go back the way they used to curly anymore. The worst thing is, the front part of my hair is curlier than the back and the bottom half of my hair. I permed the bottom half of my hair at the salon a few times, but they just go wavy and loose. So for girls who has curly hair, you can straighten your hair at home but I don't advice to do a permanent straight. And remember to do treatment at home and use shampoo for curly hair.

And here I am, a curly haired brunette, sitting in my living room, watching this interview with my hair straightened and dyed ginger.

My hair is (and always has been) that colour. It's only slightly curly (it's long, so it's wavy). At almost 60, I must agree with Nicole that if you never dye your hair, it will not lose its colour/texture until much later in life.

Then she starred in the classic *"BMX Bandits."* That film is my guilty pleasure! 😈
