The problem lies when we think our culture is superior to another or when we set a standard or definition for what "good" food is. Please keep in mind that many cultures would call us barbaric for eating a pig. Bacon/Ham/Sausages are something many of us see as delicious and arguably a breakfast staple. Others would view that as "disgusting." It's all about understanding, tolerating, and accepting that no one culture is better than the other and we all have differences, but we're better people altogether when we have a broad worldview.. Nicole, I'm Asian and yes I do turn down food that I don't like. When I went to visit Singapore and Cambodia for one month I COULD NOT eat the food. My stomach would not allow it and I was always in the bathroom. Especially if you've never eaten those types of dishes... She even said she felt overwhelmed. We all know Nicole suffers from anxiety. Adriana Medina y'all praise her for being real. Then y'all bash her for being real. There was nothing wrong with what she did or didn't do. She could've eaten the food and SOMEBODY would've said "WOW NICOLE! Way to condone the animal cruelty practices by eating their food and participating in their culture. Shame on you." I guarantee it. I can understand going into this with a certain predisposed sensitivity if that is your culture. I may even feel somewhat of the same way. But I just want to point out that I think she is an extremely grateful person. She is constantly thanking and praising up for our follows/likes/comments/support. She has even taken several moments to just sit in silence and send thankful/positive vibes out. I think it's important to look at your point of view but to also look at hers. If you've watched for a while it's clear that she's a home body. Maybe her PR person said that she had to go on this trip for some reason, or maybe like I'm sure anyone one of us could do, agreed to this trip months ago and got anxiety/negative feelings about it as it approached. Everyone reacts to trips differently based on their experiences. And when you're logging 12 hours out of the day and compiling a weeks worth of footage some things that come across as negative but aren't meant that way are going to happen. it's just not possible to be happy all the time. AND if she did do that people would be back to accusing her of being fake. If you've watched her before I'm sure you'd know that she's sorry if she offended anyone.

I never really comment on videos because I try not to be THAT person but I'm seeing a lot of comments saying she's "ungrateful" and "rude" for not trying the food and the comment she made. I think a lot of people forget that she's human. I have been watching Nicole's videos since 2013 and I know she was not being negative when she said any of those things. It did not come from a malicious place. If you watch her vlogs, she's the same person WHEREVER she travels. She always misses her cats. Those are her "fur children". Everyone is hating on Nicole for seeming unappreciative/ungrateful, etc about her trip. I'm sure she was very grateful and enjoyed it, but she's a homebody (and I feel her on that) and everyone is talking about how they'd dream to go to these places. Girl I'd dream to never leave my house. But sometimes you have to go places for work when you'd rather be home. And it's hard to leave your pets and we all know she's close with her mom too!! I believe they have taken the place of magazine editors. From my understanding they used to or still do take editors from magazines like cosmopolitan and teen vogue on these trips to get reviews for products or stay in good graces with whomever the editor and chief of the mags were. Now the beauty bloggers do it as brands are getting more out it now. I don't read magazines like I used to but I have noticed that ads for Beauty brands aren't taking up as much space as they used to in recent years.

This is the first time Nicole has done something like this in a vlog, and it was at the end of this one at that. So how could we have known that all along she was rude? You all only saw 30 minutes of a full week! I understand what everyone is saying and could even agree with some points, but its only 30 minutes. You don't know if she attempted ot try food at other places or if she just forgot to vlog some parts becasue she was in the moment. This is why so many youtubers stop vlogging. Its fine for everyone to have an opinion, but remember you are just seeing 33 minutes. Yes she could have been more culturally sensitive but she has a right ot her opinion and emotions.

Doesn't China requires all cosmetics sold there to be tested, by law, on animals? So Lancôme is not cruelty free? Makes me sad. Would love to hear Nicole talk about this subject more and why she decided to go on the trip.

Yes, you are correct. Any brand is required to test on animals to sell in mainland China and Lancome is one of them. It's really heartbreaking to see companies still use such a barbaric practice for beauty when its not necessary, at all. Unfortunately, Nicole doesn't care about cruelty free products.

B I know the policies have recently changed and the Chinese government only text certain products it's not actually Lancôme that test on products. But at some point even in the US all the cosmetic ingredients have been tested on animals.

Adriana Ortiz Not to mention it seems like she's never fully recovered her energy from since the HSN thing. She's been going pretty hard with traveling and work lately. She's probably exhausted. Just because these trips would be fun us doesn't mean they always are to a person that's always doing them. I'd imagine myself getting tired and cranky as well. Especially around that time of month. Going on a bomb-ass trip across the world is NOT Nicole's job you guys, it's a freaking privilege she should have appreciated! She knew perfectly well how far away she was travelling, being the home body that she is, she was under no obligation to accept this trip. I can name so many other people that would have been a thousand times more appreciative of this opportunity! I understand her being underwhelmed with the Asian culture because I myself am not fascinated by it, however calling the food in London "terrifying" is a joke and only goes to show she does not enjoy these opportunities that are being thrown at her. That is fine, travelling and exploring is not for everyone, but don't just accept it for the money. You can eat pancakes in your room and go to McDonalds in the US as well.

Some people travel to see the world. It's absurd to state that she wasn't grateful for a trip just because she missed her house and didn't want to try some food. When someone travels anywhere they could get homesick after a few days. As for the food I could 100% assure that every single person in this world has turn down food that seems gross to them. Esmeralda Ramirez no she literally does this EVERY trip! She complains for about 2-3 minutes, makes rude comments and doesn't even think twice about it. She did it in necker island, Cuba, London now shanghai. She bitched about her hair extensions in her trip to LA. She doesn't seem grateful being that every trip she DECIDES to go on ends up being somewhat bitchy and she's complaining. Ive been a fan for many years and I LOVE Nicole. Definitely my favorite youtuber and I love watching the daily vlogs. I understand not wanting to try the food as I am picky too. However what I noticed and what I've noticed in EVERY travel video is how much she clearly hates traveling. Shes always saying how homesick she is and how much she misses her cats, I know we are all human however I just wish if she was going to travel she would get over being away from her home and cats. She is so lucky to have these opportunities it just does not seem to me like she really ever enjoys them. Maybe it is just in her personality to not be energetic. She always seems quite bored and uninterested. I still love her and the videos just a thought.

Before anyone else makes any negative comments about Nicole not eating the food, watch her boyfriend tag videos and her earliest blogs! I obviously do not know Nicole; however, when I stumbled upon her channel, I also starting watching back videos. Nicole is an extremely picky eater and if left to her own devices would only eat chicken fingers and French fries. Jeremy loves and cooks for her so she will eat healthy. This blogger hardly eats American food so back the heck off! Guess what? If you do like it, you don't have to watch! There are literally a millions of people who want to see these videos!
