Brings, back a few memories when i lived in Bingham Broadway in the 50's and till 1964 , when i remembered the sunny days of my National Service in Cyprus , and that got me thinking lets be off to Sunny Queensland , where i am still. Niddrie as far as i am concerned was a bit of a dump , it had something about it that one never really felt safe being there, until i went through the Tunnel Leith back into Bingham .Niddrie Mill Primary was my School i went to after moving to Bingham from Balfour St in 1947 . thence to Niddrie Marischal Secondary in 1951-54 . was the Postie for the Jewel and Niddrie Mill from 61 till i migrated in 1964 . Went to Peffy then 'The 'Marshal' in the sixties. Jeanie Flets was a busy shop. Wore a few black plimsolls, but couldn't afford baseball boots they were that bit dearer! Had to settle for blue plastic sandals, and lived on broken biscuits at dinner time. Worked for Drybroughs Brewery and rubbed shoulders with some great guys. The 'White Hoose' was akin to the Wild West!!!
