the lead singer Hiroto chose to perform the way he did in this video because it was a special set being performed live on stage at the NHK (the biggest tv station, state run). some say his performance was supposed to mimic Sid Vicious from the sex pistols, but Hiroto and Marcy from blue hearts were very public about their anti-apartheid and social justice stances. this live NHK set was from the late 80s when disability rights and accessibility were FINALLY beginning to be implemented nationwide. Hiroto was acting acting like the disabled people who were still being locked away in closets by their ashamed families at the time. he was confronting the public with a depiction of disability, as there was basically no representation for actual disabled people at the time, singing a song about how all people are valid and deserve equal rights and respect.

Vocal Hiroto Komoto is not a disabled person, I think it's performance. There is a deep sense of intelligence in his lyrics. When they sing "Linda Linda" in a row We aim to hear us as they sing "Darling".
