When 9S's pod stopped giving objective advice and started asking a "Request" for 9S to take care of himself, and then on its own began firing, I felt that.

So it's finally come to this. I hope we get to see the OG 9S and 2B models fight. I'm not sure if Devola's death was good... She shoul not have goten the virus. Now with one red girl gone the ending is definitely going to be different! I just hope A2 wins this! I really hope we get an extended ending E (true ending) epilogue!

From where they left the episode off. The next episode will be the final one of this series. Sadly I don't expect it to end like the game since there is a big aspect of the true ending that can't really happen in anime form due to many reasons. Also there will never be a S2 or a Replicant anime adaptation due to how Atsuko Tanaka the voice of Kaine who is a main character of that game, sadly passed away this past month.

they could replace tanaka for kainé. They will obviously do that for future NieR entries where kainé is featured
