Garrett and Kyle using the most ridiculous voice possible for side characters and then slowly realizing they're going to have to commit to it because said side character gets the equivalent of several Shakespeare monologues worth of text is some of the best this channel has to offer. Never change, lads.

An important thing to note: while making the raid, Yoko Taro kept pushing for extreme punishments for failure. One was that he wanted it so if 1 person died, the entire raid failed (as in, the entire dungeon ended, go requeue.) He got told that was too extreme and no one would ever beat the raid if they did it. He also wanted to push for perma-delete of characters under certain circumstances, which also got a great big "we are not doing that, under any circumstances". Yoko Taro is glorious and I want more stuff from him.

the perma delete thing is a very Yoko Taro thing 😂😂

Someone probably mentioned it before me, but heck it I like sharing tidbits like this. So the design of 2P actually comes from Soul Calibur 6, where 2B was a guest fighter. The inverted color scheme was 2B's alternate costume, and thus the community dubbed that look 2P as a reference to how fighting games would routinely call players 1p or 2p based on what side of the cabinet they're from. I always liked how Yoko Taro and Square took that bit of community naming from a completely different genre and made it canon.

"oh NO" is how we reacted to basically all the mechanics on day 1. Yoko Taro had it in for us.

A quick non-spoilery overview of the Nier setting: Humanity has been attacked by alien robots. They quickly create an army of sexy androids to fight the invasion (STRONGLY implied to be converted sex robots) and go into hidding. You play as 2B a soldier in the android army and you start by fighting some robots. And from there it goes places. This crossover is canon to Nier same as the live action play, the audio drama and the mobile game. Yoko Taro, the creator of the series is a madman who does not care about your preconceptions of how a story is told.

A few fun little easter eggs. The equipment is Yorha type 51 armor. The raid came out in patch 5.1. The last bit with 9S falling off and we seeing his eyes is important if you recall NiER. Specifially about what colour they are NOT. Also; Hobbes, Engels, Marx. All philosophers. And yeah. Hobbes was a clear GLaDOS reference. It even gets upset at you when it suspects you are cheating the tests.

5:05 The neck muscles. This entire questline is a lampshade on top of a fourth wall break mixed with a parody. And I love it. 5:43 Yes, this is one of those "but thou must" moments. 5:53 "What an aware quest we're on." =-) 9:00 I think Garrett is dying. Be careful, Kyle, or you might end up with an undesired solo career. 11:25 Aaaand more uncomfortable self awareness. 13:20 "This is some Nier-ass looking Nier." - Garret 2023. Another excellent quote, following in the footsteps of "this is a video ass video game." 17:35 "What the Tony Hawk is happening?" I feel my age now, thank you. 20:15 Yeah, keeping your camera turned to the rear is a good idea on this fight. 21:10 "This is chaos!" No, this is Yoko Taro. 24:22 Good reflexes. In a raid like be prepared for everything to try to kill you. 26:30 Marx Smash is 2 possible attacks with the same name. If he raises his hands high up his wrecks the back half then drags forward along the sides. If he holds his hands in front of him he claps the front half then grinds through the middle. 29:35 It feels done, but no. Alliance raids always have 4 bosses. 31:20 "I'm gonna assume the center's safe." Yoko Taro says no. 32:30 Run, Garret, run! 38:40 One of my favorite dialogue options in the entire game.

A quick thing I noticed during this raid about your Tanking (maybe you already fixed that by now, but just in case). You need to move far less. And especially less towards your party. You, as a tank, can easily eat most normal aoe's with mitigation. And even without mitigation, its still better that you need to get healed a few times, than the boss cleaving your party and everyone needing a ton of heals or dying. On top of that, you moving to much and even slightly turning the boss, could cause people to not hit their positionals. In general, just stand still unless the aoe looks somewhat special or you can move out of it with very minimal movement. Of course, at some point you can pretty much determine without thinking if moving causes problems. Maybe you even are at that already since its been almost 4 months.

Just a heads up about "threading" AOEs. Your hitbox in this game is literally a single pixel directly under the center of your character model. If there's non-orange, you can avoid damage :D
