I love how Yoko Taro’s team does the trailers, because every trailer so far has been packed with spoilers, but unless you play the game you won’t understand why it’s spoilers Like human Emil and skeleton Emil, the designs are so wildly different you wouldn’t think the two were the same person, so when the moment does happen it still lands And how with Automata’s trailer it showed 2B’s death, but also showed short-hair A2 as a red herring to make people think that 2B survived. Unless you play the game you won’t think she died, only got really roughed up

According to Yoko Taro's GDC, he writes "backwards," from climax to prologue. From his perspective, it's not a spoiler because without the relevant context you won't feel the punch. If anything, you'll feel worse because your dumbass thought you could save any of them.

yeah this intro is full of spoilers, but without context they don't mean pretty much anything, especially in a convoluted plot such as Nier'S. Moreover, unless you watch it everytime you boot the game, you'll be forgetting the majority of it by the time you actually arrive to that point in the game. The important thing is this intro is just as powerful today as it was 10 years ago.

When I was on my way to fight the shadow lord, after learning the truth in this game, I felt something I had never felt before in a game. I felt the EXACT SAME EMOTIONS as Nier. I wanted to cry I was so upset, and the only thing that was on my mind was "Yonah... where's Yonah...?" Then an army of shades appeared and I went APE SHIT on them, actually screaming. I wanted them to pay. I wanted ALL of them to pay. This game isn't a game, it's an experience. You don't play this game, you live this game. You ARE Nier, Kaine and Emil are YOUR friends, Yonah is YOUR daughter, and YOU are fighting. Bravo, that's all I can say to this "game". Bravo...

the most emotional part was when you got to understand the shadows. I actually hasitated to keep fighting some times. and the Shade in Kaine ..... just wow. you hate him at first then he grows on you. yea hes a murderer taunting Kaine all her life but they are 1 at the same time so as she gets to her "choice" in the game hes actually questioning her and accepts with pride. Heck he even trys to save her in one of the story lines. This isnt a game at all. its a virtual story

I know this comment is a few years old, but sadly Weiss, Nier, and Kaine does not appear in NieR 2/NieR Automata. The only original characters that appear in the second game are Emil and I believe a cloned version of Devola and Popola. However, there is a DLC for the game that gives you Kaine's outfit for 2B and a Grimoire Weiss skin for the android pod. As for Nier, both version of him are mentioned in 2 of the weapons in-game.

I still remember first watching this scene. I just finished testing out Beyonetta and decided to try this out. Take note, the TV and console was in an open area, and I like to play LOUD. My reaction (probably like most people) started with fear due to all the cussing. But then I laughed it off and moved to interest and fascination moments later when the cussing woman is followed by a freaking church choir started to SING. From then on I was HOOKED.

The reasoning for Kainé's outfit is pretty smart actually. She's actually intersex (meaning she has both sets of genitals) and has been shunned for it. As such, she embraces her femininity to the most logical extremes by running around in actual lingerie. However, being partially possessed by a Shade means that her body doesn't totally belong to her and has to hide what she's lost to that Shade, covering up her arm and leg in bandages. It's a metaphor for how despite being broken in her eyes, she can still look beautiful.

As far as replay and extras go I was very impressed. Basically after you beat this game the first time, after the credits roll and you save, it will know you beat it once. So now you can go back and play it again to see the 2nd ending which is of course different. Thankfully you only have to play through the second half of the game which is very quick and worth it thanks to lots of added dialouge that clears things up the next time around. There are 4 endings in all to see

I couldn't agree with you more. I also really don't mind those sort of characters either depending on how they go about it, but this really was a breath of fresh air. I really do recommend this game. The only other game I played that is like how you described is Lost Odyssey, and like this is also a very underrated game, but is one of my absolute favorites. Both of them are amazing. I honestly didnt have high hopes for NIER, but trust me its worth playing despite its slow start.
