What I think is happening with the chronology is that it's jumping between two worlds. It starts with Midgard, but they didn't put Drag-on-dragoon 1, which starts at the year 1099 AD. So how the chronology start in DoD world then to me it jumps to the NieR world before 2003 with Yudil and Sarafa (Side note the Sarafa returning to her throne, it's not her they even confirmed that she recognised the dager Yudil stabbed her with in the bird house, it was her lady in waiting disguising herself as Sarafa again) then on from Fio's history to Akeha and Argose time it stayed until we get to Saryu and Priyet where Magic is involved and in the NieR world magic isn't a thing until 2003 so they're in DoD timeline.

Thank you, good insights!

I'm not sure that's true about the handmaiden. See Sarafa's ROD story.

@jaron95 yeah 😅 this was before knowledge of such information was given so I was just using the information at the time.

catching up, and thanks for translating these. I remember thinking "is that really the princess?" when I first played through that section, but I just wrote it off as a translation issue or just subtlety in the storytelling, but the possibility that it was never Sarafa in the boat is way more interesting.

Thanks a lot for this! 856 AD it's when Cathedral City appears in Midgard, changing the DoD/Drakengard forever as it was going smoothly similar to ours until that point, it introduces magic and Dragons to the world, further going Dragons destroyed that era's culture Please Cabbage, I've seen some of those entries mention stuff from the RD stories, before the next video dive into Marie and Yurie RDs first to avoid possible spoilers

Thanks for the info on DoD, I’m still not familiar on that. And thanks for the heads-up on Marie and Yurie, sounds like the timeline video could benefit from having the RD knowledge

Thank you, really useful information. As I doubt this book will be officially translated I welcome any details on the timeline. It is clear the timeline is moving between different words/universes as magic did not come to the NieR Replicant universe until after the red dragon event which is clearly after the Magic School story. I wonder if all the timeline so far is in the Drakongard universe or are there alternative universes involved? Look forward to the other parts of the timeline, the more details the better :D

Roger, and thanks for your input. If this is multiple timelines or whatever then I give up trying to straighten it out, I’ll leave it up to the comments section!

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the chronology is omitting mention that these characters come from alternate timelines - *unless*, and this is a big if, this is the "Drakengard 1.3" branch? We know fleetingly little about 1.3 and the possible branches *it* can take itself, but we do know that the world ends up with many of the same characters and places, but very different circumstances. I wonder if Drakengard 1 was omitted from the timeline in the book just because nothing from it was in Reincarnation, or if perhaps it's a hint that we're following the DoD3 Ending A branch? Makes one wonder what could still have led to the creation of YoRHa in that timeline

Great video! A couple of thoughts It seems to me that there are two possibilities for the new Sarafa lore. One is what you mentioned, that the handmaiden was the one on the boat who died. Sarafa then pretends to be her handmaiden, but then comes back as herself. The other explanation is that Sarafa really did die on the boat. Then the handmaiden announces the death. Next the handmaiden pretends to be Sarafa. About Fio, I was under the impression that her step-mom had conspired with her boyfriend to get her husband and Fio classified as goat-people, and that they weren't actually chosen at random.

Thank you for the translation and excellent video! Love the screenshot selection & editing. I believe 1526 AD could be referring to Akeha's ROD story, though unsure whether the "criminal" refers to herself or the assassin who finds her.

Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to share all this with the fans! I'm kind of surprised that they skipped over the first Drakengard/Drag-on Dragoon game. I'm guessing because Zero was in Reincarnation and nobody from the first game was? Even so, bit of a shame, but its inclusion and the exclusion of the first game raises some questions I'll get to in a moment It's interesting that Yudil is implied to come from a noble house into slavery. That makes an interesting parallel between him and Fio, who was born into royalty before becoming a commoner and then "goat people" member Huh. It's interesting that it's seemingly *implied* based on the year that Rion's kingdom is basically the United States? But wasn't that 1776 in real life, not 1775? So that might be a hint that whatever branch this is, it's slightly different from real life, or the main DoD/NieR timeline Also interesting that in whatever branch it is, magic is still a relatively common thing within the last few hundred years. When Caim/Angel and the Mother Angel show up in 2003, it's just the real world. So whatever branch this is, it is not the one that Replicant and Automata are set in (and Dark Memory Hina/Yuzuki), unless magic somehow disappears from the entire world and people, well, magically forget about its existence by 2003 It's *very* little discussed, but I wonder if any of these events might be from the branch containing "Drakengard 1.3". None of DoD3's endings actually lead to the first game (a branch showing that setting and characters that actually leads to the first game was released as the novel DoD3 Story Side.) We don't know a whole lot about DoD 1.3, but we do know that it's a world that has magic as of the 12th century, and we know there's also a branch from *that* branch where Caim and Angel go to Shinjuku in 2013 instead of 2003, though we know nothing of what happens at that point. Maybe Dark Memory Hina and Yuzuki hail from *that* version of WCS and the Hamelin Organization? Sorry, long winded rambling of an obsessed Yoko Taro fan. Really, really appreciate you sharing all this, Cabbage! Thank you!

I like the way Argo and Akeha are connected here. Both have seemingly fruitless lives and only care about their callings. They both leave big impacts even though it doesn't entirely seem like it. They're a secret pair!
