Library scene is something on another level of storytelling. Not only It's a reference to the first game it is indeed very heavy and meaningful in Automata. The most intelligent yorha unit 9S trying to discover the truth through slaughter and violence losing his sanity while experimental rogue yorha unit actually became wise and close to humanity because through her own path she discovered the importance of compassion, she learned how to move forward. It's insane how this game became so popular because of 2B underskirt view but there is a hidden gem that makes this game truly beatiful. And It's A2. Eternal respect to the developers team for making this character and this awesome game.

I was kinda hoping in the ending E section of replicant, that when you got to the underground copied world, that you could hopefully see automatas copied city down below, like deep below. or better yet I was hoping you could see "the tower" in its infancy somewhere in the far far distance, sort of growing or manifesting. idk, small things like that are cool to me. but fret not, automata doesn't directly have repeat locations from replicant, BUT in the novels, there's 2 short stories. 1 where the visit the lost shrine, and 1 where they vist the barren temple. both stories are about separate times 2B....has to do her duty.

I feel like Nier was the stepping stone for how Automatas story would be done. They hit super similar beats but automata takes it many steps further in streamlining the playthrough process while also giving so much context to the different routes themselves. Nier is definitely easier for someone to just pick up without much complexity in combat but Automatas system goes super deep. Its damn near a perfect game as it has an immaculate story with immaculate combat.
@trevorveillette84152 жыл бұрын
@@132478699 I have always had a very similar opinion. NieR Replicant is by all means a masterpiece. It's a work of art, and a work of art of its time. But, it's also really unpolished and a little bit shallow compared to its 2017 successor. I remember when I claimed Replicant was like "a beta test version of automata", I offended a lot of Replicant fans whenever I said that. I am aware that putting it like that is very harsh and is actually quite incorrect since both games sport different characters, story and OST. But there's 0 credibility for someone who wants to claim automata isn't more polished, finished, and either simply, or harshly put, automata is just the all around better of the 2 games. Peoples opinions on the story and characters between the 2 games are their own opinions, and they are entitled to them. But automata objectively built upon what replicant did, and did so 10 fold. Even with ver 1.22 the OST still isn't dynamic like automatas, and still reuses way too many songs; both in how many times they're played in separate moments of the game (like kaine salvation, emil sacrifice), and also how many songs are repeats on the official ost, just slightly tweaked, like all the various remixes of yonah, dispossesion, the hills of radiant winds leitmotiff gets recycled a lot, and there's some others I think too. Here's a comparison of automata and replicant OST put simply, just from a technical standpoint. Replicant: yonah in all its versions is just a solo instrumental (no vocals) version of ashes of dreams. Dance of the evanescent is just yonah/ashes of dreams as a waltz. Overall because of this, ashes of dreams essentially appears in the game like 6 times or more. That's 6 official songs on an ost being taken up by 1 song and it's various remixes. Those remixes are counted as official songs. Whereas in automata, those remixes would just be considered "quiet, medium, dynamic, vocals, no vocals" and some songs Even have "become as gods, this cannot continue" remixes. Then factor in that you can mix and match which things play at once (like pairing vocals/no vocals, variously with quiet, medium, dynamic versions of the song) So essentially what I'm getting at is, you could argue what are considered "full songs" on replicants ost, could just be considered small remixes on automata because the official automata ost includes no remixes, just the dynamic versions of the songs. Then there's combat which I won't even need to get into. It's just obvious since you can actually do combos between weapon types and which slot the weapons are assigned to will change each weapons moveset. Meanwhile that's not present in replicant. Then there's the fact that replicant goes through the same exact story every time in every playthrough, just with new info each time. Route C/D could all just be fit into route B. With ending C/D being conditional endings. And E being gotten by getting all previous endings. Automata actually has real new content by route C/D. And it's the actual meat and potatoes of the game too at that. Then factor in that in replicant you need to collect all weapons to go beyond route B and in automata you don't, and you have 1 game with horrible pacing issues, and the other game flows like water.
@trevorveillette84152 жыл бұрын
@@132478699 and from narrative aspect. replicant touches lightly, and briefly on some existentialism with the whole shades reveal. but that's very small and overall not that powerful, since at the end of the day, your characters are people too, and shades have hurt you and your loved ones. so it's really not that much of a horrible existential dread moment. replicant just dips it's toes into the depression pond. it dabbles heavily with sadness though. automata on the other hand is both very sad, and heavily depressing. existential themes taking center stage and tying into each characters own suffering in the game really helps accomplish this. both games feel like "NieR", like "yoko taro" but it feels like automata is the most "NieR" of the 2 NieR games, and is the most "yoko taro" of all his games. drakengard feels like yoko taro entering a phase of finding what he loves to make. it's like an introduction of what he began as, as a creator. then we come to NieR replicant. this is where it feels like he found his niche. he found what style he enjoys best. or simply put, he found "his style" and in automata it feels like he fully embraced and perfected his style. because automata is styled the same way replicant is in its execution and overall presentation and format, but it's to the extreme. it's amplified. people thought replicants camera changes were crazy? boom, automata with the seamless camera transitions, and multiple in quick succession. replicants genre changes? boom, hack and slash, arcade hacking mini games, shoot em up sections, side scrollers, bullet hells, visual novel sections. (oh I forgot to mention automata has an algorithm that can transfer any ost being played, into chiptune versions, so count that towards the list of things automatas OST has over replicants) replicants got bosses with sad backstories? well welcome back, there's more now! over half of replicants lore being hidden in a book and a play? well God diggity damn son, automata has like 80% of its lore hidden in multiple novels, stage plays, like 2 script readings, 2 world guides, a collectors edition artbook, and in crossovers with other games. there's even more actually but I'm just forgetting the other formats that yoko taro has used to spill some lore into. replicant having 3 main/central characters? automata also has 3, but now you can play as all 3! I really liked replicant (apart from grinding for the platinum trophy, oh God), but I REALLY loved Automata. automata has like 2 maybe 3 flaws, and they practically don't even count because 2 of them are just technical things. 1. bushes/assets popping in and out of existence, especially in the city ruins. they should release a patch for this. it's an easy fix, especially now with next gen. 2. resolution being locked to 1080p. they should increase it to 4k. it annoys me seeing fuzzy edges on character models. would love to see a more crisp looking automata. 3. this is actually not a flaw, just would be nice to have. more side story content being included. replicant did this with ver 1.22 adding the little mermaid side story, and ending E. automata should add 2 short stories called "memory cage" and "memory thorn". these 2 side stories are ESSENTIAL to understanding 2B and 9S as individual characters, as well as understanding their relationship. so many replicant fans complain about automata not "characterizing" it's characters enough. well memory cage and memory thorn fixes the majority of the missing info you need to fully appreciate 2 of the 3 main characters. they could add flashbacks for A2s past that are visuals from her side story YoRHa ver 1.5 (otherwise known as the pearl harbor descent records). this short story is actually in the game in a text section in the resistance camp, but it's just the text, and I don't believe it's word for word. there's a manga that adapts this specific short story since it's so long of a short story, and it gives the story visuals of course. flashbacks/nightmares for A2 would help connect her to this story more since it's COMPLETELY missable in the game. you can just walk by the terminal in the resistance camp dozens of times and never know there's a whole essential character backstory just sitting there in the hub area. automatas lore is so easy to miss and ridiculously hard to piece together that it's no wonder that replicant fans complain about automatas story being too complicated or hard to understand.
@nicogalax2 жыл бұрын
It was the other way around for me, I just couldn't care less about Automata characters (didn't do most of the sidequests, but the ones I did add something to their characters), the story was better in Automata but yeah I still prefer Emil, Nier, Kaine and WEISS (best character)
@1324786992 жыл бұрын
@@nicogalax I can get that as when I played replicant, which was my first time playing OG nier, I think the characters felt much more human and relatable, and I think that was the point. Also why is there no magic from Drakengard in Automata? Did Shades vanish? Why are there skyscrapers in Automata when civilization was reduced to medieval tier in Gestalt/Replicant. Did android civilization advance just like human civilization?

At the end of Replicant all humans died.For this androids continue to build and maintain civilization so that humans can return from the moon.

"What is the significance of Popola’s library returning?" If you're talking about the scene in the Tower, N2 (the little girl representing the machines) has access to old human data, and they found that libraries were how humans stored data. It just so happened to resemble Popola's library. "Is YorHa descended from the project gestalt androids from 8 thousand years prior?" No, just other models of androids (there were more other than the Devola and Popola ones, think like the ones at the resistance camp). They were losing morale fighting for Earth after humanity went extinct so they created YoRHa. "Why is there no magic from Drakengard in Automata?" The magic from Drakengard, or what they call maso, is what causes the white chlorination syndrome, effectively being a disease to people in the Nier world. However there is magic, in a way, but only because of Emil and Halua, as they were experimented on with maso particles to become weapons. "Did Shades vanish?" Not instantly, the last Shade died a few hundred years after Nier killed the Shadowlord. "Why are there skyscrapers in Automata when civilization was reduced to medieval tier in Gestalt/Replicant." Gestalt/Replicant had modern decrepit architecture as well. It's noticeable at the temple and Seafront. I don't recall if there was lore reasons for them going medieval, it's just how Replicants thought they should live like now, I guess. "Did android civilization advance just like human civilization?" No, but they maintained civilization in the event that they'll one day find a way to bring back humanity

Nope. Every song in the original Nier is incredible right off the bat. Automata has an impressive OST, but it never reaches the emotional heights of the OG soundtrack and almost the entire time in game is spent with the extremely minimalist versions of songs.

@@Le_Rappel_des_oiseaux I love these two games and I don't want to start seeing Automata ugly because of people as undesirable as you, but RepliCant's music is much better, only songs like Shadowlord, Snow in Summer, Song of the ancients, they already beat it very easy to any of Automata

@@Cherno_editz Are you drunk? I wrote that the music in the video is not from the Replicant, but from the remake, since you did not watch the video itself. The music in the remake is HORRIBLE. You, apparently, only listen to all sorts of shit like rap and noise, so you can’t understand this.

@@Le_Rappel_des_oiseaux To begin with, calm down your arrogance, you can't know anything, just suspect, the remake's music isn't all bad but the original's is good, one question I have is how you can play these beautiful games if your behavior is equal to or worse than that of a monkey, you cannot designate what people's tastes are, after all you do not know me nor I know you and I am not interested in doing so, after all your behavior here defines what you are a totally imbecile and conceited being, and if it is not, well, you see how stupid it is to designate the personality of someone who you will surely meet in your life
