The thing that we are missing was never given, that is why we spend so long looking. We would never recognise it if we ever encountered it. We are not lost, because we were never afforded the opportunity to get lost, because it is only by getting lost that you can find yourself. And finding yourself is not what the organised religions ever wanted.

Think about it, what is the first experience of a human upon entering the world? Is it one of self realisation? Autonomy? Or is it a wholly unrecognisable experience that could best be described as some invisible, superior presence providing the solution to a problem we have yet to realise.

Great video! Sadly, it is rare to find good takes on Nietzsche's idea of Nihilism. Yours, however, is certainly among them!

Haha thanks! Yeah, in researching for this video I realized how varied everyone's take on nihilism is. I read Reginster's book on nihilism, Deleuze's book on Nietzsche, Heidegger's volume on nihilism, and a lot of online sources. For a concept as "widely understood" as nihilism, it's surprising that there was so little overlap between these takes.

Christianity is NOT built on the idea that man and god are the center of the universe... Christianity is built on the principle that all men have sinned, none are worthy of god, yet god sent his son Jesus Christ (hence Christianity) as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, so we have but to accept that sacrifice, repent our sin, and live for him. We must accept forgiveness, and live our life for others as he lived and died for us. To say that "God and Man are the center of the Universe" is height of hubris. That is pride. I would challenge you to actually learn about Christianity. There are many flavors!!

You are confusing the demands christianity makes on it's adherents with the principles that underpin those demands. The theological position of Christianity as a whole has long since relied on literal interpretations of biblical texts in their original languages that assert the earth is the physical centre of all creation, that the male half of the human race was exclusively made in god's image, that human beings alone of all living things have immortal souls and are therefore the only living creatures whose prayers can be heard by god. These are the real principles that christianity is built on. It's not merely enough to say "god's son died to atone for our sins and that's all you need to know" without firm definition of our relationship with god, the nature of our continued existance after the death of our immediate physical forms, the nature of the hazard awaiting us after death and the reasoning for god to have created everything to work in this manner in the first place. While I wholeheartedly agree with you that this does appear to be just pride and hubris, christianity as we understand it today bases it's demands of selflessness, obedience and humility on those very principles. You might already have noticed that the spiritual superiority of men above women is no longer something you'll find in the teachings of mainstream denominations, but few other changes to those principles have been accepted by church leaders throughout the years. The astronomers Copernicus and Galileo both published thesis backed up by scientific observations that the earth was not the centre of the solar system. Both men were persecuted and censored by the church for heresy. While the physical position of the earth in the universe may no longer be a theological question, the mental gymnastics the church went through to get there involved reasserting that humanity is the central focus of god's attention, and that this does not require the earth to be the physical centre of the universe for it to be so.

@@lasasylum8449 Because they are happy (?) in their perception of existence it seems. I respect to that, it is hard to be happy with these ideas. The emptiness filled with faith is a strong chemical. Very effective and as destructive as active nihilism.
