How to make Gujarati Vara ni Dal
Ingredients - (સામગ્રી)
1/2 Cup - Toor Dal (તુવેર ની દાળ)
1 tsp - Chana Dal (ચણાની દાળ)
4 tbsp - Chopped Suran (Elephant Foot Yam) (સમારેલું સૂરણ)
4 tbsp - Peanuts (સીંગદાણા)
4 - Dry Dates (ખારેક)
As required - Water (પાણી)
1 tsp - Turmeric Powder (હળદર પાવડર)
As per taste - Salt (મીઠું)
1 tsp - Red Chilli Powder (લાલ મરચું પાવડર)
1/2 tsp - Ginger Chilli Paste (આદુ મરચાંની પેસ્ટ)
1 tsp - Coriander Cumin Powder (ધાણાજીરૂં પાવડર)
1/4 tsp - Garam Masala (ગરમ મસાલો)
2 tsp - Tamarind Pulp (આમલીનો પલ્પ)
60-70 grams - Jaggery (ગોળ)
1/2 tsp - Cinnamon Cloves Powder (તજ લવિંગનો પાવડર)
4-5 - Fresh Curry Leaves (મીઠાં લીમડાનાં પાન)
1 medium size - Chopped Tomato (સમારેલું ટામેટું)
2 tbsp - Fresh Chopped Coriander (સમારેલી કોથમીર)
For Tadka (વઘાર માટે)
2 tbsp - Refined Oil (તેલ)
1/2 tsp - Fenugreek Seeds (સૂકી મેથી)
2 - Dry Red Chillies (સૂકા લાલ મરચાં)
2 - Bay Leaf (તમાલપત્ર)
2 - Small Cinnamon Pieces (તજનાં ટુકડા)
2 - Cloves (લવિંગ)
1 tsp - Mustard Seeds (ઝીણી રાઈ)
1 tsp - Asafoetida (સ્ટ્રોંગ હીંગ)
4-5 - Fresh Curry Leaves (મીઠા લીમડાનાં પાન)
Pinch of - Red Chilli Powder (લાલ મરચું પાવડર)
Serve with Steamed Rice / Puri / Sabzi / Churma Ladoo / Mohanthal
