And enough schools/teachers. My small town was the dubious beneficiary of having its green spaces turned into housing projects which have been on-going for several years. It was a Labour housing plan, drafted in the early 2000's. Despite being swamped with new residents - many not natives of the UK - we still have only one GP's surgery, one dental surgery and no new schools. The only school built was to replace a much older one that was closed down. There are traffic flow problems and very little parking, meaning that a) a trip to the local small shops may mean driving around to find a side road to park in and b) the local supermarket halving the amount of time you can park in its car park. The loss of green spaces - including 'sites of special scientific interest - has been a disaster for wildlife, too.

If you build 1.5 million homes you will need: - Power stations - 1000 secondary schools - 2000 infant schools (ave 2 children per household) - 1500 GP (UK Gov 2000 patients per GP) - 9000 police officer’s @ 300 officers per 100,000 people (uk Gov) + stations, staff etc - 6000 fire officer- 2.5/1000 people - plus ambulance, refuge disposal etc etc etc - 18 NEW hospital beds per 1000 people is 2.35, so if the population increase by 3 million then you need BIG hospital with 400 beds Scary stuff.

@@milford8485 The housing crisis is a result of not enough affordable homes being built, and the rent to buy scheme that's fact, please look into it. 2.5 mil sounds like a big number but actually when you're talking about a whole country it's barely anything.

Supply and demand is something I had explained to me when I was a child, I was able to grasp the "complexities" of it and we haven't got a cat in hells chance of meeting the demands if something doesn't change drastically. Over several decades our politicians have dug a bloody big hole and in recent years decided to dig faster.

This is true - I recently moved homes and when I went to do a house viewing, there was around 10 immigrants viewing the property at the same time. I had to literally offer an extra £100 a month to the agency to get this property. I Literally created my own inflation!! I had to do it otherwise every single house viewing would be the same and I had the fear that immigrants would have priority over me!
