Nigel Farage: Royal Marines should take migrants back to French beaches

The Royal Marines should be deployed to pick up migrants in the Channel and take them back to French beaches, Nigel Farage has said as he urged for the UK to do “whatever it takes” to tackle the small boats crisis.
The Reform UK party said it would cause “a hell of a row” with the French but added it would be the most effective way of preventing migrants paying smugglers to cross the Channel.
Farage travelled into French waters to highlight the “unacceptable” practice of French warships escorting migrant boats into UK territorial waters.

Why would France help us to keep migrants in their country? It’s an almost intractable problem and clearly many migrants would prefer UK to France. The same applies to the US and Mexico. Many people want to have a fresh start in life, because their own country does not give them opportunities or security. No easy solutions, but safe third party countries with heavy vetting make sense, plus monetary/trade incentives to home countries to stop persecution, but there are no perfect solutions. In addition the UK should face the truth that not all migrants are the same and we also should be looking to the future cohesion of our society . To this end, there should be an “English culture and values “ document that should be nationally taught and in the case of migrants, signed , and adhered to, with consequences if not. A document we can be proud of, a charter in fact. Of course these days, we could never get all the politicians to agree on the contents or wording.

@@PaulaKelly-s9c His name has nothing to do with Huguenots. The name is taken as a derivation of the French "faire" or "to make" which means they were most likely craftsmen of some sort. The first most likely came over with the Norman conquest and stayed. The name Farage in UK predates the Huguenots by centuries. Alternatively instead of repatriating him to Normandy, he could always be banished to the Outer Hedrides the ancestral home of the Farages the name being a cognate of the Gaelic Pictish from the name MacFergus.

There has to be a legal framework in place, like we had with the Dublin Convention when we were in the EU. Since leaving the EU we lost the ability to send them back so our borders are less secure and Farage needs to accept responsibility for that!
