Well Covid did impact the shortage indirectly in that all the DIYers put huge demand on builders merchants during lockdown, there's also currently a huge global construction boom and many factories were closed during lockdown hence supply is lagging. Nothing to do with Brexit.

He will have to and the same for lots of businesses. That process will have knock-on detrimental effects on their businesses, and trade, and will result in smaller businesses. (Plumbers make good money I thought) If trainee plumbers (or baristas or fruit pickers or whatever) are all going to earn £1,2 or 3 more per hour that will shrink those businesses and raise prices. These lower salaries are not exploitative, they are just lower-end jobs for younger people or casual workers to do for a year or two. Now all that work will be that bit more expensive. For years the UK benefitted from a 'flexible labour market' with these types of work in it. I think a quick glance around will show there are also plenty of good jobs as well.

16% increase on turnover; Made £5m profit in the year before the pandemic, so probably £6m profit this year. How many apprentices can you train with £6m? You'll easily make up for that 5% of your workforce you lose from EU. My heart bleeds for the multimillionaire that is making increasing amounts of money and can no longer employ cheap labour from the EU.

Forcing an experimental jab on people that short term has proven to be very risky and dangerous, and long term unknown, is just barbaric. Disgusting on every level. Even without the fact it’s experimental and dangerous, forcing medical intervention on someone is always wrong. If we don’t own our own body, it means our governments and employers do. If I need to explain what is wrong with that then you are hopeless.

The skills shortages goes back to the 80's when Maggie introduced the "live for today" mentality and "stuff tomorrow". The first thing to go was R&D and Training to cut costs and maximise profit, even proper apprenticeships cut left right and centre. NO more investing in the future or "the workforce" no it was about ££££££'s and making as much as possible. Of course decades later we are seeing and paying the full consequences of this "short terminism" despite some gaps being attempted to be filled by immigration e.g. (polish) community.
