Bobby George is one of the most straight forward honest genuine people I have ever met. This is Bobby George, playing in the Halstead District league friday night away to the Royal Oak in nineteen eighty something and Bobby George is sitting at the bar chatting to the landlord. I get put on in the singles and am scoring very well ta but could I finish, shook like a leaf. Scores for show doubles for dough. I did in the end and as was the custom away player calls the scores in the next game. After that Bobby gives me an "Oi, come 'ere". Bought me a pint and asked "what's all that shakin' stevens lark" finishing should be easy after scoring like that. And we chatted for the rest of the match unless I was on again about easy ways to find your way around the dart board and not getting stuck on the traditional "shot out". I've since been in his huge house while he was completing it to measure for flooring and he remembered my problem with the finishing. He's also a motivational mickey taker! Great bloke.
