The nuts on the rod cap can be driven with a 1/2” twelve-point socket. No problem

My '77 MGB is named Nigel too. Parts are arriving for the engine 'refresh' this week.

My wife and I went through a whole list of names. This is the first car we have had that had a masculine name. Hope my videos of my journey on this project help you out.

Did you weigh each of the piston & rod assemblies to ensure a proper balance?
@AlexPlatacis2 жыл бұрын
Nope. They are pretty finely machined components. I dont think their weights could possibly vary much. Also, these are not "performance" parts. If this was a high revving race engine, I suppose that would be a consideration. And, performance pistons, and rods are designed with weight in mind

@@AlexPlatacis Thank you for your reply. I was watching other video's where all parts were weighed to get all assemblies close to each other. However, that was indeed for a race engine.

Oil hole in rods pointing "away" from the cam??? That makes no sense.
@AlexPlatacis5 ай бұрын
Well, turns out the squirter lubricates the cylinder walls. Not, the cam lobes. Here is a link to a video I did explaining the oil flow on the 1800 kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3ysenihfKyshZosi=GhlHvnF0-499VyAW

It's not an "error" most things on these cars don't make sense. LOL
