The thing is... people think that army is toxic because that small number of toxic fans are loud and proud. Most non-toxic armys are silently loving BTS, themselves and the world around them. We are quite a peaceful bunch, but our impact can be felt. Quite fascinating, right?

We don’t consider solo Stans as armys and vice Versa. Armys are the one who might have a bias but still support ot7 equally and solo Stans are the one who only support one member and hate other members . So they are not even part of our fandom to begin with. Ngl I hate it when people stereotype us and how loud they talk about how loud they talk about toxic part while themselves being toxic stereotyping others (not talking about you lol ),but it’s really annoying how they completely miss All the positive stuff majority of armys have been doing to focus more on microscopic toxicity ,which mostly comes from solos ,sasaengs and mantis to tarnish our names .I can give you like 50pages paragraph about how other fandoms treat us or others in just 2023alone ,but it’s just when we call them out for their wrong doing ,we are moral policed by others ,since they want us to be the big one and forget all the shit and slurs they throw at bts . I myself have defended them from those crazy haters and media and radio hosts who threw racist remarks at bts but I won’t call myself toxic just because I was defending them and asking for fair representation .

Hi I'm an army since 2014 n I gotta say army has changed dramatically from 2014 to now in 2014 we were actually pretty small but at the same time sooo pure tho ud rarely find an army who's cursing others or bragging about how bts are the best, when bts really got so big that's when the unwanted toxic armys came out but we also grew out of that, army is just so great and my 9years of stanning the members I just would never regret that. Army forever

Lil Lurker here - African American 53yr old woman - For someone who is new to the fandom (Oct 2022), being able to see the content online... made me want to actually buy the DVDs, Albums, or merch (started Feb 2023). If I didnt have the shared content available to make me want to learn them more I wouldn't have fallen in love with them. Since Feb 2023 until Aug 22, I have spent over $2k...so... it works.

Same here! I became a fan in March 2021. Fell down that rabbit hole so fast it was crazy. My entire office is a BTS room. Last year I made it my mission to get every edition of every album they have. I’m only missing 3 right now. I’m sure I passed the $3k mark a long time ago but it’s the with it. (We won’t talk about the money I’ve spent on concerts 😂) I’m a 49 yr old and it took me this long to find my village. Borahae!

I think we can spend what we want😅... this world is full allkind of collectors (coins, stamps, cars...) and some spends their money to follow football, rally, formula, ballet, movie-shootplace visitors, bird-watchers... (buy merch, travel over world to see them...). My friend collect lighthouses - travel to see as many he can😂. Just sharing my experience, I am from the Philippines and I flew all the way to Las Vegas to watch their PTD concert. It was my first time and I was so amazed how army are so behave and organized from falling in line before the concert, during the concert and exiting from the stadium. I was really in awe and the only things I heard from the organizers are these : "the best fandom ever" and I was so proud being there and being an army! 💜💜💜

As an Army and someone that knows and has and had been part of other fandoms and not only in music but also fandoms of series, movies, influencers and other celebrities and things, I'm pretty sure Army is the most united and organized fandom! 💜 Since we are a huge fandom, there's going to be more toxic people sadly but like in the video said it's really nothing compared to the millions of not toxic people in Army but sadly they are the loudest and let's be honest, there's toxic people in every community too. Army really have created a new fandom culture and you can tell by their collective actions and the reaction and surprise of people who work in those areas and are used to a toxic or crazy behavior with past experiences like security guards, staff, employees and even reporters that film that all the times (and if they are paparazzi's and not listening to the artist wishes then they are ones that are doing things wrong there too) Not only BTS but also ARMY are really making history and taking all the "first to"'💜😌

Solo Stan’s are not ARMY. Solo Stans don’t consider themselves ARMY and ARMY do not accept solo stans . Other fandoms may include their solo stans but ARMY does not. ARMY shouldn’t be blamed for a separate group of people that they are are against and that actively attack ARMY? This is what Bora means by the actions of others being put on ARMYs, whether it’s other kpop groups being looped in with ARMY or solo stans being wrongfully combined with ARMY. There are toxic ARMYs, actual ARMYs, but that number compared to the overall group is very small.

I found you right when you started your SKZ journey because I was also just starting mine. SKZ were the ones to get me diving head first into kpop but BTS has been in the background of my life for 5 years now and after my bff reintroduced me to them (and Stray Kids, Ateez, TXT, and Xdinary Heroes among others… I blame her for my kpop addiction) I’ve finally sat down and really gotten to know them. well solo stans aren't armys, they actually usually don't like ARMY and sometimes go to the extent of also hating other members... so they don't reflect BTS' message or any of the artist they claim to support 😅 But my personal experience, I was so pleasantly surprised when I first started connecting with ARMY! I had that image that Kpop fans were crazy and toxic, so when I first left a comment that I was respecting them, could understand the appeal but that the music wasn't for me but it was nice giving them a chance under their Tiny desk video I was a bit scared... but actually I had so many ARMYs reaching out, thanking me to say that I respected them and trying to guide me to introduce me to BTS, asking what I liked, showing patience and open-mindedness! And now ever since I became ARMY I've just had so many people just checking up on me daily, sharing the most beautiful stories, helping me even career-wise, I had so many gifts too free albums, merch, food, flowers... so my experience has been really overwhelmingly positive otherwise I wouldn't have stayed long! ARMY is a big reason why I am here today! The impact BTS has is really the one of once in a life-time act and I am so proud that the fandom is willing to reflect and defend that .. As the fandom grows bigger we also have to do a good job at continuing to guide baby ARMYs because a lot of non-ARMY but who assiocated themselves with BTS are actually trying to tear us apart and also spread a lot of misinformation.. But let's continue to trust BTS, stick together and enjoy their artistry for a long time💜

Hello there Nigel. I’m a lil lurker here. I don’t really comment but, wanted to let you know that I’ve been in this BTS fandom since 2019 . I found them by my daughter. She had me listen to their music and even though i didn’t understand them I still enjoyed it. At that time I was going through depression and these 7 angels safe me. I believe my daughter was angel too. I still go through the depression but it’s not as bad. Listening to their music, watching things they do helps me. I wish I could’ve known them back then but to know them now is even better.💜💜💜💜💜

NGL, I don’t consider toxic fans army at all - the boys have even on occasion made the distinction that ARMY and “fans” (aka fanatics) are separate entities. The second I see toxicity in this fandom, that person or group is not ARMY in my eyes. The only thing I would say about their personal lives and their families is sometimes I have accidentally come across a picture of a members parents or sibling or I have looked up family members but not to memorize or obsess. The following comment should not be read with an angry tone.... The "toxic" issue....The word is definitely overused and has lost a lot of meaning being thrown about but I do believe that individuals can be awful people and I believe that we live in a society where algorithms on apps perpetuate that and bring negativity in front of everyone trying to get a reaction and people will say horrible things when pushed to their limits. Those things will be used for YEARS to come as to why an ENTIRE Fandom of MILLIONS of people including people who dont even have social media are toxic....people need to start addressing the certain awful people and stop treating a group of people who have a common liking as a monolith that behaves the same. People sometimes are just bad, just because they slap a name tag on themselves and calls themselves ARMY doesnt mean we have to address the entire Fandom in such a negative way. I say that for all fandoms. There are bad people everywhere, sick and twisted regardless of what type of music they like. Our fandom just get the most heat because of the ENDLESS articles written about us only in the most negative light to ensure that people would have a certain image of us and then have that same image towards BTS. Never articles written about our fundraising initiatives for donating to charities or anything else thats positive like the purple ribbon project. I wish we could focus more on the majority of the fanbase instead of always commenting on how there are bad people among us. Like cool I get it, what I am supposed to do about straight up awful people. Like dont worry so much about them and focus on the music, the message and the way BTS act. Something I do, if someone is being a horrible person is I dont use the word ARMY when I talk about them. I say horrible person alert, I block and I move on. They are loud, so are Antis, so are cosplayers pretending to be ARMY. Strip them of the name and keep it pushing because we are just dragging our good name in the mud with all of that "toxic" nonsense. Sorry I hate the word, I hate that I see wonderful people doing so much good everyday in this fandom, fighting for the boys everyday with love for people to just call us all toxic or even associates the word with the name ARMY all the time. I hate generalizing in general. 14:00 - Solo stans are not ARMY so they are not apart of the fandom .... 25:45 - all you had to say was "be real" and I came down here to add my comment and its "NO". The unwritten rule is if an ARMY saw a member in the wild, no we didnt. Simple as that. I would cry ...then I would run away ....then I would cry some more. The most I would do is wave from a distance but discreetly so that no one else would notice and made sure not to draw any other attention to them. There is no way I am even thinking about my phone at this point, let alone whipping it out and no I would never take a pic of them. Ever. Their safety, privacy, comfort and happiness means more to me than anything. The purpose I think of this video is to try and educate folks on how we are vs how the media has perceived us for so long or how certain loud people on the internet make us out to be. ARMY follows and trusts BTS, anyone who doesn't follow their lead or follow ARMY etiquette, which is basically just human decency needs to be given a whole side-eye. No one claims those people. Let them roam around just listening to their music with no name as we all repeatedly report and block them for invasion of privacy or any other random thing they do that they think makes them a fan. Whats up I am a lil lurker, I rarely comment on anyones videos because this is what tends to happen............... this be long and you probably wont even read it, lol thats fine. I just want to put it here. Most Kpop and nonkpop fan think ARMYs are all toxic. But not all. There's actually a small amount of toxic fan within our fandom but they yap the loudest. And people only tend to see the negative things in our fandom. Yes, ARMYS are very protective of BTS (who wouldn't?) coz we know they've been taken advantage off almost every freaking time and they always get hate even just for breathing. *ARMYs have been donating eversince be it small or big especially during calamities.* BTS are good human beings and ARMYs don't want to disappoint them or make them look bad but there are still some out there who always puts the fandom on the negative spotlight. BTS and ARMYs they work together, doing good things that the media and people aren't even recognizing.

Very true. All fandoms have their toxic ppl, esp as the fandoms get bigger and bring in so many different walks of life, but ARMY are definitely the first I've seen and been in that have such a large mass organization of so many different movements with so many different ppl/cultures to make changes (whether economical, social, charitable, etc.) so often and so constantly. It's very humbling and inspiring to witness so many ppl in the same fandom rally around BTS's name to make a difference.
