Devo Fun Factory Appearance UKTV June 1980

DEVO appear on Fun Factory, a Saturday morning kid's show, while on the Freedom of Choice UK tour. Interview is by Gary Crowley.
The group had a huge bust up with show producers and another group on the show, The Regents - a 1 hit wonder - which may explained the strained mood through the interview. Funny though.

I remember that interview well, in fact I saw them the next day at the Rainbow, London. Fact is, considering the Rainbow was London's largest venue, there was only one, Ill prepared photographer there, I know, I spoke to him. Unfortunately the British press at the time were rather unfair to this great band.

I think it's pretty obvious Jerry and Mark had the upper hand here, no need to feel bad for them. Idiot: "So like, wot kinda bands did you lot like when you was 17, 18, before you was old men?" Jerry: "..." Mark: "I like Devo."

Boy, you don't hear accents like that anymore. Sounds like a cartoon character. Gary Crowley is still on the radio (and is still as gormless and wooden) but his accent has softened considerably.

Dreadful interview. The interviewer never let's them speak. This is the only interview I've seen where you can tell Gerald Casale gets visibly annoyed at the line of questions.
