Hi Nigel, perfect timing….. mine landed yesterday….what a kit…got to say the detail is awesome. You can tell from both the plastic and the quality of the moulding that Tacom have manufactured the kit with the DAS Werk team, as I understand it designing it…..same quality as the Jeep you reviewed some time ago.. The Jeep is a superb build and a great subject for ‘up-detailing’……mines on hold and has been for a while now in the hope that at some point you might find the opportunity to give yours ago…..🤔….. I live in hope…😂😂 As far as the half track it would be fab if you could find the time to build it…..but I do know you’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment…..🙈 Best Regards Gary

Thanks for the review Nigel. It looks really great. I remember building a German half track over 50 years ago, long since lost through house moves. I sold some accessories from my Jaguar the other week and treated myself at the local model show in Holbeach ( the wife drove me there on a rare trip out of the house) and bought Andys Hobby’s 1/16 Sherman and thought it got lonely so added his 1/16 Tiger 1. I think this might be following.

as an avid 1/16 trumpeter fan i had nearly convinced muself to buy thier version, the lack of details put me off, then i saw this and my paypal started its love song and i have one arriving tomorrow :), i have a few 1/16 part dioramas in my display cabinets and i can see this as a new addition , thanks for the heads up

Andy's Hobby HQ video shows how well this baby goes together. My gob is still smacked, Nige! What a kit! If that doesn't turbocharge your mojo, you'm dead. Can't wait to see you tackle this beauty. Now I've got Mr Surfacer black on its way from China, Ed and Scale Model Shop have both got it in; typical. Mind you, I've now got some Flexi black ca glue from Premium Hobbies at last so happy days.

Hiya Nige I bought some Outback Paints 'black primer' since I live in Australia and love to support a local product. I've tested it against my (all of our) beloved Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 black and unfortunately the Outback stuff really doesn't come close. - firstly it is not black (but a dark grey). Not a disaster alone but I love using Mr 1500 Black for Tamiya motorcycle black plastic components. - Outback doesn't shrink back nearly as much as Mr 1500. As such it must be sprayed more carefully - any slight excess will remain and fill detail whereas Mr 1500, even if flooded on, really excels at making me look like a great painter. - Durability is good with the Outback but again not quite as bulletproof after a few days as our go-to 1500. Love the videos mate and I thought you might enjoy my unofficial review. ❤

@robbroy
@robbroy Жыл бұрын
@@NigelsModellingBench thanks Nigel yes I have been using MRP black primer for a few years and enjoyed it almost as much as Mr 1500. Performance of MRP was just about identical to Mr 1500 but MRP has become hard to get here in Oz. I 'prefer' the smell of Mr 1500 over MRP too haha.

Got one, a big box packed with good plastic. Ironically the level of detail means many will seek to add more detail e.g. wiring, fuel line...as the kit ''demands' it. The radiator top has molding flaws with a slight dip in the centre - look closely at an on-line build and you can see it. I used very thin plastic card to cover the seam but.......there are so many parts it's a real builders model. Recommended

Helluva kit. I did Fruil tracks for a 1/35th scale Hanomag but the number of bits in that one will keep you busy for awhile. My only 1/16th scale kit is a Trumpeter King Tiger. I opened the box up, looked in it, shut the box and have never looked in it since.

That is a lot of kit for the money. Interesting review as always. Was surprised by the price, expected it to be nearer £150. Would love to get that but would need to get a bigger house as the 1/16 Tiger, T-34, Stug, Sherman, Jeep take up a lot of room and the Mrs would not be happy. Maybe for the stash but trying to build the stash rather than add to it! Would be nice to get figures for it.

As a professional at driving people's packages around in circles 🚛🚛, this past spring FedEx became a lot more competitive with Oops(UPS). Amazon hired on a few thousand owner operators to haul between their terminals here in the States and has made the parcel business alot more competitive. Now that the threat of the strike is over, companies are price comparing with both. Peak season is almost upon us and we'll see how things go this year. Over here, when they ship kits using the Post Office (USPS) that they seem to get really beat up. Here's hoping you get better service Nigel 👍☕🐢

Thanks for the update and a really interesting review. I know these are lovely kits, and I'm hoping this does not sound negative, but I'm finding it hard to get into 1/16 scale. I suppose I might go for a one-off single kit as a special display, (probably this very kit), but unlikely that I would build many in this scale. I'm ingrained into the 1/35 pathway and just don't get the same buzz from these larger scale models. Am I alone thinking like this? Anyway, all power to those who enjoy the larger scales.....once again, thanks for a great and informative review

@@NigelsModellingBench + I don't know Nigel I think Merit made it in 1/35 scale not sure if they did a 1/16 scale as of yet I could be woring but the way they are turning out these beautiful 1/16 scale kits there's a good chance they will produce a 1/16 scale kit of the 88 millimeter flack gun I guess it's a matter of time should ask Andy at Andy's hobby head quarters he would know if a kit like that is in the making

Sorry that you are experiencing problems with postel delivery's. If it's of any comfort you are not alone. It doesn't half tick you off. If they say an item will be delivered at a day time at least turn up on the day. Don't mind an hour or two late. That is forgivable 3 days that a joke.

It does look very nice Nigel. But its not for me I think. It looks far too fiddly lol. However, I am very surprised that the instructions do show a lot of colour call outs of detail parts. I was expecting the usual Takom style instructions that tell you nothing about detail painting. I noticed at Jadlam it says first batch sold, more due next month.
