Great review Nigel. Gahleeri also do an airbrush /set/ complete with compressor, so if you are a newbie there really /is/ all you need to start in one pack :) As for languages, I can read 15. I can only /understand/ one of them mind you *LOL* A thought ref the stand. Some paint handles have a magnetic base and a metal sticker for your desk. One of those stickers would mean the stand would be more stable.

As I said to you Nigel, I have the Gaahlri Swallowtail- its their flagship triggerairbrush. It's unbelievably comfortable to hold in the hand....and it compares well to my Iwata TR-1 but costs less than 1/2 that the Iwata coat me and it's gravity rather than side feed.

Nigel great timing on the Gaahleri reviews. Pretty much sealed the deal for me on picking up on of their trigger release airbrushes. Thanks.

As ever… a pair of extremely thorough and highly informative reviews on these two Gaahleri airbrushes from Nigel. At only a few pounds for spare nozzles, seal kits etc (compared to Iwata’s 55 GBP pounds for a replacement nozzle and 14.50 GBP for a needle packing gland seal) … I can feel an Iwata ‘deserter’ coming on. 🤪 And I’m willing to bet that we will be seeing a LOT more of these two airbrushes in Nigel’s future builds !! Thanks Nigel. 👌👌

Hi Nigel. Im a fan of your channel as well as your work and enjoyed watching you use a trigger airbrush for the first time. Im a huge fan of Gaahleri trigger airbrushes as I suffer from arthritis in my hands and find using trigger airbrushes are much better for me. I started out with the GHAD-98 and loved it, but as you have found out its not the best in the world for doing fine detail and motteling, well you can still do it but you know what I mean, which is why I then went and bought their higher end trigger airbrush, the stunning (Swallowtail) or (Barbados Rex), its an awesome upgrade to the GHAD-68 and has a 0.28 needle for the finer detail, but it also comes with a whopping 0.7 for those big projects like 1/32 scale aircraft or ship models and combine it with fan cap nozzle and wow you will have a ships hull done in 2 passes haha. I would be completely lost now without my Swallowtail trigger airbrush, and its a really good price too. They also make awesome airbrushes for using for all your varnish coats, so if you still prefer to use say your IWATA then the trigger airbrush would be a great varnishing airbrush.

Nigel, Great review! Having now seen this one, I'm torn between the two Gaahleri offerings; may just have to go and get one of each, along with some of the accessories (e.g. extra quick-disconnects, maybe a 2nd compressor, etc.) One of the things I really like about the Gaahleri's is their use of PTFE for the seals, as my current air brush appears to have some red-colored rubber. Haven't damaged them (yet), but I can see type of accident as a possibility. P.S. I really like these kind of product reviews - keep it up, when / where appropriate.

Another great review Nigel, really pleased you are impressed with the airbrush. I like the comfort of the ghad 68 especially for large areas as you noted. Sorry for the late comment, but was eagerly waiting to get home to watch this review and as always with your honesty as with Jason I am never disappointed. Keep up the great work. All the best

Hi Nigel, Great review👍🏻 Gaahleri will probably be my next airbrush. About the needle removal, I think that it's supposed to through the airbrush, so you put it in the back, remove it from the front. I usually remove it from the back, but when I forgot to clean-up my airbrush, I removed it from the front (after soaking) to not plow the gasket with dry paint, I learned and every-time, now I remove the needle when cleaning and I often find paint on it, I even spray thinner without the needle to flush everything out. I never remove the nozzle to clean it, I don't really trust the cleaning needle tool that looks like a reamer to me...👋🏻

Hi Nigel - following on from your comments, and those of Chris below I have just ordered the Swallowtail/Rex airbrush... Something to look forward to when I get home to my family and models in 10 days or so - currently on a job on the west coast of Tasmania. You may feel homesick here - often miserable weather. BTW, the other trigger brush I have is the Mr Creos 0.5.

Nigel, this was a great review video. I have three Gaahleri airbrushes. I’ve had to remove the o-ring between the body and the nozzle cap on my GHAD-68 and swallowtail to eliminate air leakage passed the nozzle PTFE o-ring. Have you or any of subscribers experienced this problem? Thanks again for all your hard work and contributions to the community.

Hi Nigel , I have the Barbatos Rex Swallowtail trigger gun , and it’s awesome , I have the 0.5 needle and tip with a fan cap and the coverage is so quick and even , also the plastic protective cover cap I use when mixing in the pot or cleaning , it gives you hands free blow back so the hand you normally use to cover the tip with can now be used to mix in the pot at the same time as blowing back .

Nice airbrush Nigel. I think I agree with you though, with the idea that the normal dual action airbrush will give you more control for detail painting. The trigger version will be great for general work and when you need to cover large areas. Both look very good value for money.

Glad you like it Nigel. Unfortunately I bought mine last week but no paint through it yet. If only I had know I could Have saved a few quid. Have to agree on price, my Iwata Neo which was my main brush decided to part ways with its nozzle leaving the treaded portion inside the brush, unrepairable replaced with a Gaahiri Swallowtail could not be happier hence the purchase of the GHAD-68 for bigger projects.

Hello Nigel, found your inspirational site through Jason at Modelkit Stuff. The Gaalheri review is apposite I'm prepping to build the Trumpeter 1/200 Scharnhorst and this brush might be very suitable for this substantial project. Having followed some of Jason's build (and btw hoping you will revisit the idea one day) I was wondering if you had any of your resin stern-anchor-housing upgrades left. Many thanks, Pip

So....They only give you one half of the Quick Disconnect. The female adaptor is an optional extra. What good is the male adaptor on its own??? If a buyer does not have the quick disconnect already on their airhose, then this included adaptor is completely useless. Even the cheap airbrushes from Ama zon that do come with the quick disconnect, come with both pieces.....the male adaptor and the female adaptor. OMG
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench 2 ай бұрын
Very handy actually.. like me, if you have only one female, then having a male for every airbrush is a welcome addition.
