The BD tail code is also from Barksdale AFB , Louisiana. It's an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit. I worked on B-52s in the depot.

the BD Tail code is for the 917th Wing, for Barksdale, the LA is for the 2nd bomb wing which is also at Barksdale Louisiana. The 917th Wing also operated the A-10 for a while, believe the flying tigers used to be it?

Castle had the code CA for its G model B-52 in 1992, but then it got CAncelled... (Really bad pun there...)

Wow, what a beast of a kit! BD is for Barksdale AFB, LA but those buzz letters where for the A-10 unit stationed there and LA is for the BUFF's that are also stationed at Barksdale. Would enjoy watching your build videos of this monster!

Nigel love to see you review a hph kit would love one of there c47s but there is a hole lot more to do in the fuselage as all internal ribs and stringers are photo etch parts would love to see a 1/32 c47 from hobby boss also would any one the rough size between the b52 and the b36 peacemaker as hph has or did one in 1/48 gotta love those 6 giant radial and four jets thanks nigel

Cockpit is an additional item.. there is a 1/48 cockpit in the kit.

Hi Nigel, Christmas came early then! I can remember being at the Mildenhall Airshow (as was) many years ago and they were flying a B 52 along with a Vulcan bomber! The B 52 did some low level passes down the runway and a couple of circuits of the area. This was closely followed by the Vulcan that completely upstaged the poor lumbering big B 52 by virtually standing on its tail and going vertical halfway down the runway! British at it's best but the noise!!!! Enjoy your build, the kit looks amazing. ;-)

I saw the same thing at Fairford 2011 or 2012? only the Vulcan was on the Runway and the B-52 flew overhead. The Vulcan may perform better at airshows but the B-52 is by far the superior bomber in my opinion. I said at the time.. B-52 just given an additional 40 yrs service, last Vulcan flying on charity donations!!

Yes and no really.. It is a lot of money for a model kit, but compare it to some of the recent £400 plastic kits from Asia and it's a bargain. I mean.. Titanic kit £400, Pontos £150, PE shell plates £150 and on and on...
