One of our biggest failures in SOF in both UW and FID missions is that our partner forces are selected and assigned by TSOC CDRs and approved by DOS. In reality, partner forces should be identified, assessed and selected by SF at the Detachment level. We're always handed a partner force, or realistically assigned a PF, and told to make them successful when in all reality a solid force assessment would tell you they are the inappropriate force to partner with.

Bureaucracy just puts a lot of people in positions they don’t belong in. Way too many people sharing one job just so they can have people on the payroll. Needs to be downsized and streamlined for efficiency.

Unsexy air power is what the US is missing. A few f35s controlling the entire airspace can enable relatively inexpensive, low performance aircraft to provide CAS and ISR in everything but peer to peer front line conflict. Bring back prop powered CAS.

That was such a clear case for procuring a cheap to acquire/cheap to operate turboprop plane that could loiter over an area & provide CAS We bought the Afghan Air Force the AT-6 and it was solid choice. Doesn't go Mach 12 or have photon torpedoes tho...

The same strategy was used by my opposing team in a 6 on 6 volleyball game. They put their 4 better players together, and the 2 worst next to each other. When I came up to serve the ball, I targeted those 2 players. Since they didn’t spreed those two players out, between the other four, I crushed them on serves! They couldn’t get any help from those 4. We were playing for who’s buying beers after, and my team just helped to pay the tip:)

Back in the 80's thier was a big fight between SOF and the Airforce over providing SOF forces with CAS even a guy dropping gernades would have been better than what SOF got out of it. Still the problem big Air could give a shit less about CAS

That'd be somthing that isnt a multi-million dollar stealth super jet. Unsexy close air support like he was referring to would likely be a propeller driven single seat plane with a couple machine guns, maybe some rockets. Cheap simple and effective for that kind of situation. But its 'unsexy' and low-tech, unlike a stealth bomber or F-22/F-35, so nobody wants to invest in them...

When the sop and roe are put in place by people without any meat in the game, this happens. Just like my time in Baghdad. We had to fight with are hands tied behind our backs. How can we eliminate the enemy if the enemy can cross the street and be considered off limits since they are in Sadr city. Why not let the people you put in harms way make decisions once things go hot.

@@ricruss1869 the Wagner group in Syria got smashed by the United States military in ridiculous numbers. Like 40 American soldiers vs 500 Syrian/ Russian soldiers with tanks and artillery. U.S command called Putin to tell him to stop that they were attacking Americans. He denied that it was Russians. (It was their mercenaries) so the United States broke dik off in them with everything they had…. Also the battle of Mogadishu you had 160 U.S. soldiers take on 3,000 crooked toothed savages. I mean unless I’m mistaken it’s a common tactic for America to drop a small team behind enemy lines to scout out troop positions and high value targets. Then call in air strikes killing hundreds of the enemy. Especially before drones were so common. I didn’t literally mean 12vs1000 but yeah air support is a force multiplier. Also what do you think happens when it’s pitch black and you got a bunch of camel jockeys sleeping and a well trained group of u.s soldiers armed if nods, suppressors, and ir lasers. Heads just start exploding and they have no idea where to shoot. A dozen soldiers can easily take out hundreds of enemy. Especially when they use that IR laser to guide in air strikes. Where are you from? Why are you hating on the best military in the world with the best assets and logistics in the world. It’s not even close.
