The last time I remember having an African manager was steven Keshi where Nigeria 🇳🇬 won the 2013 afcon and made it to the knock out stages of the world cup. This should be good appointment.

I noticed Nigeria didn’t even list the length of contract. Challe’s task is basically qualify Nigeria for the World Cup or bust. The first WCQ is Rwanda away then it’s Zimbabwe at home.

I think this appointment makes sense for Nigeria considering their situation, they cannot afford a big time hire due to financial limitations so it's a good safe move to hire a guy who knows African football very well. Off topic though, should Ghana sack Otto Addo and if Yes, in your brutally honest opinion who should replace him? If they sack him, I think they should try former longtime assistant to Herve Renard, Patrice Beaumelle. This guy has a lot of experience in Africa

The interesting thing is Chelle was sacked by Mali because the chances of Mali qualifying to the world cup currently is very slim after they blew a lead to lose to a poor Ghana side at home and then failed to defeat a 10-men Madagascar away. So considering that Nigeria are also in a bad position in their qualifiers, the choice to hire him is a bit strange. However Mali did play some good football during the Afcon and prior to the last world cup qualifiers before his sacking, Chelle had a very good record with Mali so if he can get things clicking then you can't rule Naija out. However given that Ivory Coast loss while up a player and taking the lead, they will be questions regarding his in-game management. It will be a tall order to qualify ahead of an in form South Africa and high flying Rwanda though, and considering how Nigeria's better games lately have come when they used a back 3 which Chelle doesn't use, he will have lots of work to do to get that team performing.

Michael, back in the days, players played for National Pride sometimes using personal resources for answering Call Ups to the National Team These days there is not much to be proud of socio - politically. Politicians have made nonsense of National Pride! Sadly!!! Maybe the players will play for personal pride. Maybe Chelle can bring out the enthusiasm in them again. But I tell you Nigerians are not happy with a lot of other things and football just happens to be feeling the impact🤔Luck to Chelle🙏

2:43 That's the biggest lie that the Nigerian FA wants everyone to believe. They have the money, they just don't want to spend it. Chelle doesn't know what he has gotten himself into. The NFF are looking for someone to blame when this team eventually fails. It is disgraceful that a federation like doesn't still know how to manage football after all these years.

🇳🇬 Nigeria won't make the World Cup. They would literally need to pick up at least 16 points out of their last six games in order to be in the conversation. I don't see that. I see 🇧🇯 Benin picking up momentum and qualify for their maiden World Cup. Mark my words.
