The problem is childless individuals and not only women. Men get shamed when their ex wives get pregnant for someone else while they couldn't get same with the ex husband. Africa needs a real shift in the way they view babies, especially biological.

I have watched enough Nigerian films about what you are saying. The hateful mother-in- laws I really hate. At times it is the husband who cannot father a child, yet its the woman that gets blame. The mother-in--law is usually quick to go to the village to get a second wife.. Adoption is taboo.

@BusolaOyeyemi
@BusolaOyeyemi Ай бұрын
@@Cleopatress_tarot But they are made to believe th child is theirs. Let me give you context, As a woman you're seen as a failure when you can't give birth to a child or in less common cases when you can't give birth to a male child. When you've been married for a long period of time and everyone around you from your relatives and in-laws, colleagues, friends, society as a whole and sometimes by your husband, it puts you in a tight corner. The only way to stop all of that is to give birth, then common sense would be absent when you're given that opportunity, religion and miracle can be used as an excuse then this would happen. What's even worse is that the cycle would repeat itself, one day this exact women would look down on their daughter-in-law like a failure when they fail to give birth. Rather than criticism without understanding, know that this is a product of society. Sure, they deserve consequence for that but we should focus on ending the belief.

The lack of knowledge scares me. Why dont they adopt insted. But this is the same problem as we had in sweden back in 70s to 90s. But they made ilegal adoption instead. All red flag during the adoption process also were ignored by the adoption parents. 2 diffrent countrys but the same pressure on the woman and from society. Same outcome poor mothers that suffers and had been lied to and thier babys been stolen. By the way im one of the stolen children thats was traffickied and sold for an international adoptions .

They must have some kind of people with medical knowledge or legitimate credentials to carry out these procedures. I am from Nigeria and i can boldly say we are our own problems, if someone who is trying to get pregnant adopt a child they will keep insulting you, insulting the child and so on, even the the husband family will be saying the child is not their blood, and if later in life the husband becomes late the husband family will chase the woman and the child out of the house, saying the child is not their brother blood, if u decide to go for IVF they will still have something to say, that is why u see that in Nigeria people do everything to have their own child, like dey want people to see them pregnant. These are the things that push people into all these scams.

As said in the video, it's not poverty because this has a cost of 3,000+ USD. I googled and found that the average monthly income usually less than 100 USD. So a poor or average person would need to save up for years to afford. Illiteracy also doesn't explain it, in the video it says many of them are educated. As the doctor at the end puts it as well. They're smart adults. They are just desperate for a child. The human mind works wonders in convincing you of a truth you'd like to believe in..

As a nigerian, I don't really blame them. If you see the way infertility is viewed in this country, you will feel bad for the women. If you can't give birth to your child or are unable to concieve, you are treated like an outcast. The same if you try to adopt as they view adopted children as not their own blood. In church, hearing some testimonies of women who did IVF multiple times until they succeeded, one thing that I noticed correlated with their stories was how extended family members or members of the community will mock them or try to convince their husbands to marry someone else so that they could have children. I just feel that this issue is a social one as in Africa generally, there is this obsession to have children immediately after marriage, and they must be biological. This is bad as it eventually places blame on the woman, which can later lead to depression and suicidial ideation, which forces the women to seek this type of shady business as they feel it removes them from the shame of not being able to have a child.
@celiajames600
@celiajames600 Ай бұрын
How about just leaving the marriage? I am an African saying this. Stop thinking that a woman's life only exists in marriage. We used to have such attitudes towards childless married women in the past too. But now women can work for themselves & live fulfilling lives outside of marriage. You guys need to move with the times. Women have so many options now.

I have a question with regards to fertility and the Nigerian culture, (and this is based on what I have read in the comment section and watched on the video) why do they blame the woman only for infertility? Is it a cultural thing? Coz there is a chance the man is infertile too.
@lmaooo333
@lmaooo333 Ай бұрын
@skailyralexander No. It's definitely not a cultural thing, so to say, as im not that well versed in the subject. I think from what I've gotten from women's testimonies in church, I'd say it just has to deal with attitudes mostly from conniving in-laws. I think it has to deal with the lack of information regarding male fertility as most people are aware of infertility in females. Hopefully, I will pray that will change. But if you have any questions, you could ask other commentators, as I'm sure they'll be willing to help.😊

Thank you for the information but this report is incomplete without the arrest of Dr. Ruth,the commissioner went to raid a hotel but can't raid the supposed clinic where this evil is being perpetrated. Sometimes the no conception is do to the father and not the mother. To only blame the mother is just crazy. How do you get pregnant in your back and not your uterus? Why is it that every time there is a medical scam there is a female doctor?? Instead of selling babies, just adopt. I don't see how that is so bad. I feel bad for these couples.

This is what happens in cryptic pregnancies. It’s sad people especially women don’t know about this. These people are smart and know what they are doing. They know that with cryptic pregnancy the baby is not in the uterus that’s why women don’t know they are pregnant

You need to be educated. Africa is a continent of 54 countries. Nigeria is just one of them. The BBC has helped the ignorant by naming the country, 'Nigeria', but you persist in ignorant behaviour expanding it to Africa. You are trying your own scam. You need to be educated.

Sadly, we have had to attend to women who have experienced this. That's why we always advice patients to visit reputable IVF centres. It's the reason why we are also sharing knowledge about IVF. The more women know about fertility options, the less likely they are to fall for scams.
