Well, I feel Nigeria is widely underated. You’d should not look at the world rankings as they don’t actually reflect the abilities. Nigeria rarely plays friendly games which affects their world rankings. But big ups to them.

The falcons been had that energy for years. It ain't easy being 11 times African champs for years and still the best African female team. The problem with the ranking is the Nigerian federation. They don't arrange enough friendly matches.we ain't gonna talk about the players wages and how the Nigerian federation tried to sabotage bonuses from fifa.

Women soccer have come a very long way. As a guy who have been following women soccer for over 30 years, I'm excited that a lot more people are getting interested in women sports in general. As a Nigerian, the super falcons have had formidable team from the last 1980's till date. The likes of Mercy, florence Omagbemi, kikilomo Ajayi, Okosieme, perpetual Nwakocha, Cynthia Uwak, Desire, now Oshola and Ajibade as our top flight players

The fact is that, they choose all the beautiful spots by voting each other ( you vote for us, we vote for you in return) and then fill in the other teams and place them at the bottom. Nigeria has played Canada, draw them or win in some point, played the so called top teams and beat them yet they are top teams, and Nigeria and others are the buttom team ranking 40 and so on in position. And the buttom teams never get to play home friendly in their home town but the so call top team have to invite you the buttom team to their country and then instruct the referee what to do about officiating the match as they dimed fit. When Argentina travelled to Nigeria and played Nigeria and lost 4:1 FIFA went ran to investigate because that must not be, but if the result was the other way FIFA will increase their rankings Nigeria female team have no place in the 40th ranking position rather in the top 7, go check the Nigerian female team record and see if they are to be in 40th, playing a so called top teams and loosing 0:1 or 2:1 is not a big deal because the result can swing any day. That is not a convincing win, 3:0 4:0 or 5:0 prove your spot as top team position, the ranking is basis, they voted top position for themselves and fill in the other teams. In other to keep your moral down low so you think you are nothing, so you tell yourselves let us just accept our positions and work harder, of which may never manifest in Ranking no matter what you do, and then again, if you are not coached by one of them they'll never agree to playing any friendly match with you. Even the match with the Australians female team, the referee wanted a consolation goal if not the shame of 10 position team loosing 3:1to a 40 rank position team will be too much so by over stretching the time for a consultation goal is necessary . The red card given the Nigeria player against Canada was a mistake tackle because she did not go for her foot but for the ball it was a yellow card offence not a red card offence, all this was to weaken the team paving the way for Canadian to win. But we're disappointed And most of the officiating are basis. Football is a physical sport so contact is allow but when the referee have to blow against you at every fall of your so called top position team, then it's pure basis. RUBBISH RANKING I know some "white butt licker" will come under my post to lecture me nonsense in support of their slave master.

I really wish you ladies had actually did an actual sports analysis on what both teams just accomplished thus far. Maybe consult with someone next time who actually knows the sport because what has happened is deeper than a field celebration or locker celebration. Nigeria and Jamaica proved that non-white nations of a darker hue can play quality soccer/football and they are putting the world's best on notice on the women's side that this is not just a palm people or western nation sport. There are women on Nigeria who played in the US for college and pros, they play for major clubs in Europe. The Payne sisters are phenomenal. Nigeria now I love these girls they have a lot of players that got their start in the US and they play some world class ball. Whether it is Bunny with her size, speed, strength, or footwork. Or a Cheyna Matthews a mother of three still playing on such a high level. Let's show our folks that we are changing the game and creating stars. Now if the USWNT would stop playing the stupid game of the US is blond and brown ponytails. There are BW and girls that don't get the call-up because of the image they want to portray.

Funding is not just poor for women, kets remember when Cameroonian Men's team sponsored themselves to world cup. It's poor government priorities. Then as for women teams, yes sponsorship and salary cap isblower because gate earnings are generally lower for women games because they are less popular. It'd help if women sponsor these sports too, and also watch trir own sports...because we hear a lot of talk but women generally are lower in terms of loving sports, so you see that it's not easy to ask another to sponsor what you cant sponsor, like a people who do not sponsor their national team wondering why others do not...just human psychology.

@@rotimikayode1072: Agreed. But I'm not one who is delusional enough to believe what our open enemies teach which is "turn the other cheek" and that our reward will be in heaven. The atrocities that Africans have suffered and have had to put up with, no other race has ever suffered or accepted. We have never received acknowledgment of the grievous exploitation that we have suffered not to talk of reparation. Look at Ukraine. Putin warned Nato not to cross the line. They did and now there's a war. Meanwhile, we have military bases from every European country on African soil in Africa. We even have an American military base in Northern Nigeria. We have foreign troops killing Africans in Africa as we speak. In the past few days, Mali kicked out the UN "Peace keeping" troops. 70% of South Africa is still in European hands, 100% of North Africa is in Arab hands. Zimbabwe is still under sanctions for the past 40 years .... and you say that "You don't approach life with a bitter spirit". Wow. SMDH. When the enemy comes to our door, a typical African would go for his bible whereas a typical European would go for his gun. Now the Chinese are on their way. Do you think that we are going to be able to pray our way of colonisation 2.0? I'll wait.

The reason that the gap is closing due to the fact that they have so many American born player on their team Haiti has 5 American born players and Jamaica has 12 American born players. I think it’s very disrespectful to rate Nigeria as underdogs in this World Cup. I knew we would beat the host. And we did it in style! How many European or American female football teams have won the number of trophies the Nigerian female teams have won in Africa? They once won a continental tournament without conceding a goal. The western commentators should show the girls from Nigeria some respect because their team commands absolute respect on the African continent with the highest number of trophies won. I don’t know why people always look at the world rankings that aren’t based on fair ratings sometimes when good teams receive lower ratings due to not playing enough games for financial reasons that affects their preparations and competitiveness. Well done to Jamaica, if Nigeria can do it, so can you. Nigerian genes flows deep in Jamaica. I hope to see the Jamaica female teams thrive in the coming decade. They compete in a very difficult situation in a continent packed with very good teams. The fact that they qualified for this World Cup blew my mind. Well done Jamaica! The continent of Africa supports you any day because you are family!
