All 3 Stanzas of Nigeria's anthem are recited on October 01, 1960 by the MRA Studio Orchestra under the direction of the Brazilian composer - Remo Usai.
"Nigeria, We Hail Thee" was Nigeria's anthem from 1960-1978. It was written by Lily J. Williams and the music was composed by Frances Berda. The anthem faced criticism from its onset. Eventually, it was changed to "Arise, O Compatriots."
Nigeria we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribes and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle honour 'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of creation
Grant this our one request.
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

For those who need clarification on why Nigerians are not present in this video, it captures the activities of celebrating Nigeria's independence in Mackinaw Island, Michigan, USA! Nigerians were more than a thousand miles away, receiving their independence on Nigerian soil that fateful Saturday, October 1, 1960. 😃

I guess it's more of an emotional attachment and nostalgia than about "deep meaning". Those who grew up in the era that this anthem was sung will shed tears mainly because it reminds them of their version of "good old days". I am sure that if the other anthem was brought up many years from now, those who grew up singing it will also shed tears because it may have served as a soundtrack for a large portion of their lives. I wouldn't be surprised if this is more from nostalgia than patriotism.

I be6the lyrics of this song was the reason they changed it. Every thing goes contrary to the lyrics of this anthem. Had it been it's being sung till date, the guilt and blood hanging on their necks would've killed them all each time they hear the sound of the anthem.

Its as if it was the white people who were celebrating the independence. Nigeria can't be democratic and independent if yiu return to this old anthem composed by the colonizers. So sad for this great country. You Nigeria are the giants of Africa but falling slowly

Hint Hint - Nigerians. Your country's name is not yours. Your identity is not yours. You are the creation of the British. This name was coined on 8 January 1897, by the British journalist Flora Shaw. "Nigeria" was chosen primarily for pragmatic colonial administrative reasons, rather than reflecting any deeper cultural, historical or political unity of the region at the time. It was a way for the British to simplify the governance of their West African colony. GO HAIL your Colonizers!!! All hail, King Charles!!!
