Economies worldwide, including the advanced economies, are going through tremendous turmoil as a result of the adverse effects of covid 19 and the Russian/Ukraine war. This unfortunate phenomenon has hit developing countries very hard and has put food inflation at astronomical high. This explains the unrest we are experiencing in some African countries today, of which nigeria is not excluded. Although the degree of hardship may defer from country to country based on the economic reforms being adopted to mitigate the impact. Victoria, please don't loose hope and hang in there for us. You are doing amazing job for some of us. we take instructions from your positive outlook to life. Trust the lord, this turbulence shall pass. Ghana too is going through economic hell. Stay blessed!

Thank you for attempting to speak the NPP talking points. For your information Ghana is tough because we are fools. Why don’t we import what we can’t produce instead of importing everything so we can’t save the cedi that is why the dollar is going up against the Cedi. We have to stop importing rice, tomatoes, onions, meat etc. These are things we can produce ourselves. We know how to learn from countries that are making things work but we won’t because it will disrupt the money some people in power are making. Until we stop importing over $100 billion of things that we can produce in our own countries our currencies will continue to depreciate and become worthless.

Wow! I just said the truth as echoed by all the reputable economic and financial journals around the world. It is only a person who perceives things through a political prism will pigeonhole my innocent comment and describe it in such manner. Though, I do agree with you on the import substitution measures the country has to undertake to mitigate the uncontrollable dollar/cedi fluctuations. Moreso, the use of the dollar for business transactions locally must cease, and purchase of gold to build up reserves to back the currency should be encouraged. The leaders since Dr Kwame Nkrumah know what to do to solve this problem, because it is not rocket science. Unfortunately, there is always no political will to do the hardwork to solve the problem.
