Love this and am so grateful. I have a doe who came to me pregnant so I don’t know when she is due, but I can see it is soon. This will not be a first kidding for her but it is for me, and I’m sure I am driving her crazy hovering over her, watching her every move and constantly checking her butt. She came pretty wild but is now tamed enough that I can touch and pet her. I helped a friend whose goat had quadruplets, the first of which was breach that he helped get out and the next two I helped because she couldn’t get them out, maybe because the breach had over exerted her, about a half hour later the fourth just popped out completely unexpected by us, although I’m sure mom knew he was coming. I’m praying to not have that happen with Elizabeth, but your video reminded me again that although the Lord programmed them with all instructions necessary to continue their species, sometimes unexpected things happen. I love your channel.

O add some nice and thicker bedding, some add hay, some add Chuck's, u can find alot of things on Craigslist in your area, through families that unfortunately their older loved ones have past, their pee poop pads for humans , called Chuck's , alot of families have no further use for them, anyway awwwww please give mama a clean area while birthing.....so sweet

Sugar water instead of plain water right after delivery helps her get stronger faster. Also a bulb syringe to suck the babies nose clear when first born it’s always good to have handy. They also need selenium shortly after birth. This gives them good muscle tone. USA is low selenium country. Oh bath towels that have been washed nice and clean are better than those three bags. They are extra absorbent and will help get baby dry.
@cjfunnyfarm4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I definitely need a bulb syringe for sure. It's been on the list forever and I am not the most organized human. We use a supplement for mom right after birth called Nutridrench that was recommended by our vet it is full of vitamins and glucose. We also give the babies a pump as well! Thanks so much for the helpful tips!

Thanks for watching! I really didn’t end up being very helpful. I couldn’t grip any part of the baby or find any feet which is what I was trying to do. She eventually got him out enough I was able to kind of hold his ears and help her get him out 😂. Not the greatest solution overall. But he’s healthy and that’s all that matters!

It's funny how some stand some sit some lay down, then there's the ones that do all three positions when birthing

I notice alot of farmers at least wipe sacks, fluids out of mouths and noses and suction the mucus out so they won't suffocate, and make a clean spot where baby comes out old sheets, Chucks pads, more thick hay padding, what's is that big piece of wood taking up space in their pens?
@cjfunnyfarm4 жыл бұрын
We use paper feed bags to catch the babies! They are clean and easy to use! We do a lot of cleaning out of noses and mouths as well helps them get going!! They each have a pallet to sleep off the dirt if they like. Goats like to sleep on top of things!
@phyllisyoung36574 жыл бұрын
I juatcfound you in time. My 2 ND s are due any time ( my first kids in 35 years) and my first NDs . I noted some mucus under the tail of one a couple hours ago but no contractions yet. I've been watching all the goat births I can, so hopefully I'm ready in case they need help. BTW I'm a former OB nurse. What was in that pump that you gave her while in labor?. She was licking it up so it must be tastey.
@cjfunnyfarm4 жыл бұрын
It's called Nutri-drench and it's usually available at Tractor Supply/Atwood's and most farm stores. It's great and is a good pick me up for Momma goat and babies if they are a little sluggish. It's also great for any sick goat you have for any reason, but I definitely give it to my girls immediately after birth and then for the next couple of days just to boost them!

QUESTION ;.. how long will a momma be in contractions and pushing phase before you step in and help out ... ?
@cjfunnyfarm4 жыл бұрын
Hey! thanks for the question! If the doe is pushing I give her 20-30 minutes before I just check and make sure everything seems ok. Baby is coming in the right position. That’s on the advice of my vet. If I’m not sure I call the vet and ask. It’s so important for you to have a good relationship with your vet before you get into that situation. Our vet recommends to never let the doe go more than an hour pushing without intervention. Goats have a really thin uterus and it can tear easily. I try to not intervene unless absolutely necessary so I don’t risk tearing for the doe. I would talk to your local vet or an experienced breeder for advice on your particular animals. I’m not a vet. That’s just the advice I was given. Thanks for watching!

What happened to the birth?
@cjfunnyfarm4 жыл бұрын
The baby got stuck and had to assist so I didn't get to film when she pushed him out!
@josephbooth1055 Жыл бұрын
You should intervene and check her before hand everytime I watch a live birth the owners trying to let the goat do all on there own keep running into tragic losses the doctors don't do that on our babies and the quicker you deliver the goat the less stress on the mother goat and the kid, when you have a problem if you had already stuck your hand in you could correct the position of the goat early. And that mom will tear from a hoof easier than from your hand and a difficult birth damages the mother a little bit everytime. So so don't wait for the goat to have a problem deliver the goat as fast as you can it's better for both the mom and the goat. I know they say the opposite on you tube but they are wrong. They don't do it that way with humans because it's inhumane so your livestock is going thru a lot more pain because of it and your having the loss of more kids and goats too.

You cut the feed to the birth because your screemish you are waiting for the goat to do the work and that just ends in tragedy.
