I think Ghanaians should focus on healing their hearts first, because even when your songs are being play in Nigerians clubs you guys still won't know. The power and advantage Nigerian musicians have Is resilience and persistent they are always in your faces releasing songs every minute just like the way they release their movies. They are always in the studio. Ghanaians if I may ask how many Nigerian songs do you guys promote? Who do Nigerian musicians depend on to promote their music? Guys learn one thing if you don't promote yourself or sell yourselves no one will. Nigerian musicians promote themselves because if they don't no one will period.

I think he is just honestly passionate about his own country men to be as successful in Nigeria just as he has been. Only that he just missed out one fact that he himself is more Nigerian than most Ghanaians. He sings in our Nigerian language, moves closely with our musicians and churches all these things an average Ghanaian will not do because an average Ghanaian feels entitled I just don't understand why it is so.

Do you see Nigerian gospel artist coming to the screen to make controversial statements like you all..the other day,I heard one complaining about Nathaniel Bassey,now Badu has towed the line of Shatta Wale and the likes...in any case,why must it be Ghanaians we invite when better artist are in South Africa, Kenya,America etc. Ghanaians should stop feeling entitled when it comes to Nigerians, we owe you all nothing.

Even in Gospel music, these individuals are entitled. Amazing. How about you get up off your lazy asses go to Nigeria, and go network? Nigerians will not go out of their way to invite a Ghanaian if its not good for business. This is not charity. And you all invite Nigerians because it IS good for business. We'll work with Ghanaians, Kenyans or anyone else who avails themselves of good business. Some American artists have incorporated pidgin English into their Afrobeat sound, not to say pidgin English would become a trend, but if it does, obviously, it’s because of Nigeria. Mark my words, if it does, Ghana will say Nigeria came to learn it from them. Everyone knows that pidgin English is associated with Nigeria, but Ghana will say they started speaking it first, and Nigeria took it and fine tuned it. Watch, it’s coming..
@papap1186
@papap1186 8 ай бұрын
Ghanaians learnt pidgin English from Nigeria in the 80's and in the mid 90s the SHS students in Accra, Ghana started speaking the Nigerian pidgin and mixed it with new Ghanaian slang. Ghanaians don't really speak pidgin English because it's not a Ghanaian national language. Less than 15% of Ghanaians can speak pidgin English because it's not their thing. Most African countries learnt pidgin English from Nollywood Movies and the Nigerians who live in their countries. Pidgin English became popular globally because of Nigeria/Nigerians. In West Africa/Africa, Pidgin English is a national language only in... Nigeria Sierra Leone And the (Anglophone part of Cameroon) These 3 countries are the real pidgin English speaking countries in West Africa Region and the entire African continent. The rest of the other West African countries only few percentage of their population can speak pidgin because they started forming their own pidgin English with Nigerian pidgin English just one to 2 and half decades.

I am tired of these people . Please cancel Nigerian music . You keep contradicting your self. You say Nigerians take care of people then say they dont. You say you are invited and then say they don't invite people. Not until Nigerian music industry crashes Ghanaians would not rest . I expect this from the normal pundit on radio but from Sonnie Badu it is shocking. Music is basically demand , networking and supply . Don't network keep crying on radio . The true issue is Nigeria is not competing with Ghana and at every moment Ghana thinks we are competing even when we help you still cry. One will think after all the bashing Nigeria gets from these people and all the interviews from major artists and execs they would have gotten better.

Interesting discussion. I totally agree with you in some few points but disagree with the submission that Nigerians don't play Ghanaian songs. We play what is trending, we have played Gyakie, we have played Blacko, and some few guys whose songs were banging then, what we will not do is to continue on an old song, not even Nigerian old songs, once its past, its gone, hence king promise is what is trending now. Another factor is rate of releases of good songs by artist, I can conveniently tell you, on daily basis, Nigerian musicians releases bangers, we move, we dont wait. The more new releases the more for the djs to play. How many of your artist are releasing songs. The female artist in Ghana are at more disadvantaged. The rate of songs releases matters a lot, otherwise, it will seems we dont play your songs. Should we continue to play sugarcane????

I thought this guy was a Minister of the Gospel. He is just spewing out lies. Anyway, I'm not surprised, even his Ghanaian people here in the United States complain about how exorbitant his charges are. Dunsi, Nathaniel Bassey & Victoria don't charge. How many churches can afford to fly him & his band across continents. To him, it's all about money. Nigeria can never satisfy Ghanaians. We have close to 200 countries all over the world, why must it be Nigeria that have to help you in your industries, be it music or movie? No matter what Nigerians do, they complain. Nigerians really help to push this Sonnie Badu. After his "let it rain" song, most of the songs he recorded after were Nigerian songs. Eg "Jesus na w oo". He should rather look up to God, rather than look up to Nigeria. I don't even know he still does Gospel music. The Gospel event just held in Ghana was sponsored by Nigerians. The 3-day event was held free of charge for all Ghanaians. Nobody is stopping Ghanaians from holding shows in Nigeria, as long as they can finance it. Victoria held the same program in South Africa, & it did not generate this hullabaloo. The South African event was also financed by Nigerians & held for free too. Sonnie Badu can do better. The guy don dey lose focus, abeg! Nigeria is now your problem!

King promise,gykie,black sheriff etc are accepted in Nigeria. If u make good music we will listen. It's about who can sell out shows. So u want a promoter to loose money to introduce you to a new market?go and do ur own show like Nigerian do DER own shows in London etc

You want Nigeria, a country of over 250 million people, to invite Ghana, a country of 30 million, 10 times a year, just like Ghana invites Nigeria. However, this ignores the fact that Nigeria can't be expected to provide equal opportunities to a smaller country. It's like expecting Ghana to match Nigeria's military strength during a war. Nigeria has a surplus of musicians and gospel artists, and there's barely enough space to showcase them. Additionally, other countries also want similar invitation frequencies, making it impossible for such request, doesn’t mean we don’t support Ghana music. King promise is popular in Nigeria because he understands the Afrobeat sound, just like Nigerians have penetrated South Africa with their own Amapiano sound.

Correction: First, Nigerian’s local language is not ‘broken’ English. Nigeria spoke Pidgin English way before Ghanaians did. Ghanaians got Pidgin English when the ones who returned home from Nigeria in the eighties brought it with them. That’s why Ghanaian Pidgin sounds like the Nigerian Pidgin of the eighties and nineties. Through the years, Nigerian Pidgin evolved with the younger generation. Pidgin English is a newer language for Ghana. It’s only about thirty years old there. Nigerians have been speaking it for over a hundred years. That’s why Nigerians, young and old speak it, and the older generation of Ghanaians don’t. Secondly, ‘Broken’ English is a language spoken by people all over the world who do not have a good knowledge or command of English, Nigerians are definitely not that! Nigerians speak English and Pidgin just like Sierra Leone. Cameroonians too. The meaning of a broken Language is inability to speak it well. Like me speaking French. It’s broken because I’m not fluent in French, or a Ghanaian trying to speak Igbo would speak broken Igbo etc. Some people use the term broken because they do not know the difference between Pidgin and broken! Nigerians and Sierra Leone people were the originators of Pidgin English.😁

Ghanaians invite Nigerian creatives to their events in Ghana because it adds value to their events, don't get it twisted! Nigerian music dominates in many countries in Africa, how do you guys expect it not to dominate at home in Nigeria which is the main source🤔 Every time you'll hear lots of people from other African countries complaining Nigerians are not playing a lot other countries music, its common sense that Nigerian music must dominate at home if it is dominating outside. SMH!

Why do Ghanaians keep complaining about Nigeria 🇳🇬? Is it by force? Must Nigeria promote Ghanaian musiicians? Are Ghanaians promoting Nigeria musicians? Why will Ghana depend on Nigeria for entertainment growth??? Na wa oooooo.

Bro, This is why you guys are having issues developing your entertainment industry; inviting an artist for a show is business!!! Why would you bring someone that might not fill an arena that cost money to rent?! If a thousand artists from Ghana are interested in performing in Nigeria, they are welcome; they should use their own money to rent venues for their shows! This is business!!!

What Sonny is saying to Ghanaian artist is simple, do your job. How do you expect to blow up in Nigeria when you have not done one single promotion in Nigeria, Go and ask your dj's and presenters most of them are on pay roll for these big Nigerian artist. When the come to Ghana and post pics do you guys really think they came solely to have fun in Ghana. They also came to hold meetings with your dj's and promoters on how to market their work. It is not rocket science

It's high time this convo around Nigeria and Ghanaian entertainment industry should stop. Ghanaian entertainers should look inwards and also look at the positive sides of entertainment industry in other African countries such as South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, find out how they build up their international brand and tweak it to suit Ghanaian and international sounds. Also Ghanaians home and abroad should invest in the entertainment industry.

Ghanaians why do we play your songs when all your songs are in Twi? Even the interview is almost 50% Twi. This also shows some shadinness in Ghanaian ways. How can we understand you when you are always hiding behind your Twi. The true test of friendship is when both parties are open 100 %. This is very uncharacteristic of Nigerians. Nigerians have more local dialects or languages than any other African countries but we chose to express ourselves when we are with foreigners in broken English or English language so that there can be fairness. I visited some friends and they were all speaking their local languages and I decided that will be my last visit

I don't get ... is Badu OKAY at all. which one is this that Badu is finding fault in Nigeria supporting their own. Do you know how many talented people in Nigeria still looking for opportunity? Come on Ghana, just add a little sense, if Nigerians push their own, you too go push yours and stop acting has if Nigeria is response for you ghana. please, grow up ghana
