Disillusioned people like you will wake up from your induced slumber after 4 years of Tinubu administration. Its bcos of people like you that Igbo may never rule Nigeria as president bcos u think all it takes is daydreaming and blackmail without working hard. You negotiate power and not demand it by force. I wouldn’t be surprised that u never even came out to vote for Obi on election day.

By the time Tinubu is getting ready for a second term, many millions of them will wake up from the nightmare they've brought upon themselves! Yeye na mess 🤣🤣🤣

He was in his house in Abeokuta minding his business not supporting your candidate or other candidates. Like a true elder statesman should do. Not like those ones who rigged elections in the past, had wonderful Nigerians assassinated under his watch and now start writing letters and whining in front of cameras about an election that has been won and lost.

I want to hear Prof Soyinka's views on the election. He can't play the escapist. The government that will bring about restructuring must be legitimate.
@jimifash
@jimifash Жыл бұрын
It's a legitimate government elected by over 8 million Nigerians. You're entitled to your opinion, tho as guaranteed by the constitution. The only thing you shouldn't do and this is an advice is deny those millions of Nigerians who voted him as president the peace and order through violence. That same constitution would put you in the right place as its laws require.

@Jimi Fasina Have you seen the results? Cancelled and tipexed in white ink. Where APC got 10 votes, they changed to 10000 votes. That is why it's called a sham.

There is no section of the Electoral Law 2022 and the Constitution that say Prof. Yakubu Mahmood should announce a candidate of his own choice in 2023 elections. The job specifications and descriptions for the contestants are known from the two enabling authorities and from the results that Mahmood presented to the world non of the presidential candidates won the 2023 elections. Therefore announcing a candidate of his own choice amounts to a coup to the extent he suspended the Constitution and the Electoral laws to make his declarations. It is Yakubu that should be imprisoned and fined not Channels TV that aired Datti's honest interview. NBC should sue Datti if his statements were improper. NBC is only trying to cow the media as a show of their totalitarian process. Can we be drawn to definition of terms : democracy, ending etc. to understand how correct Datti is.

The famous Prof is right as usual. I will humbly add that a deep and thoughtful examination of Nigeria's problems might find the root causes in interests of economic exploitation outside the shores of Nigeria. The country was put together by delineation and amalgamation of diverse nations and peoples for the interests and purposes of colonialist actors, not for reasons of ethno religious or cultural affinities among the diverse groups. This was also made worse by the absurdity in the imbalances created by the colonialists in the administrative cum political structure they left behind, leading to issues of hegemony and the intractable problems of disunity, fierce contests for central power and fears of domination by one group or another right from Nigeria's independence, through a civil war and ever since. Some have argued that these problems were actually foreseen by those outside actors but the problems worked to further neocolonialism and continued dependence of important portions of the country's economic fortunes to the control of outside colonialist forces and interests. Against this backdrop any efforts to begin to really solve Nigeria's monumental problems must start with a vigorous but open-minded review of the parameters or conditions for the corporate existence of the country Nigeria and what form of governing relationships the composing nations will have, one with another. I have argued elsewhere that some form of a confederal arrangement will be best suited for Nigeria considering her composition character, not this absurd, expensive presidential system foisted on the country by a band of ignorant military adventurers.

Very insightful and intelligent analysis. But its high time we stopped blaming the past and start forging ahead. First of all , we need to recognize that the bane of backwardness in Nigeria is religion. Both the European that gave us Christianity or Arab that gave us Islam do not depend on false prophesies and prayers for the development of their society. Every politician in Nigeria has at least a Pastor, Prophet or Babalawo that tell them what to do. Adeboye could call the likes of Obasanjo and Jonathan 3 am in the morning while In Aso rock but never advised them on developmental projects that would benefit the masses bcos he is the gate keeper for the slave master in Nigeria.

@@DanteDaniel-f6y I agree totally with you Dante, when it comes to Nigeria's problems I absolve neither the king nor the pope. They both contribute to the mess in the country and belong to those outside interests and bad influencers that I talk about. Thanks.

Well said. If you've noticed, the people who benefit the most from the mess are the ones who are opposed to restructuring whether in the past or now. Restructuring is an existential issue for Nigeria. It has to be done and it must be done. But if this new government would do it, there's to be a grander picture for a political strategy on how to pull it off.

Work hard to be somebody instead of losing respect for accomplished great men. Blackmail and lack of emotional intelligence will take you nowhere. Let us start building bridges to sustain the current momentum. Buhari never had the record of Peter Obi even after 13 years of trying to be President until he negotiated with Tiefnubu. Blind emotions will get you nothing but good strategies.

Are you such an irredeemable liar? You can just type this "Wole Soyinka criticizing Buhari" into your KZbin search engine and see how many search engine results it turns up on your screen. He doesn't need your respect. There's enough respect from statesmen and leaders of thought in politics, letters, science and technology around the human world. Remember he doesn't even know you exist. You are just bitter towards him because he's not saying what you want to hear. And he's not saying it because he's said many times he'd never declare support for any politician during the last election cycle. He's an elder statesman. Guiding those politicians is the ultimate least he can do for them before they assume office. And then continue to criticize when they're going astray in their governance affairs.
