Something about plastic ocarinas has always turned me off but I guess that's just in my head. Plastic has great sound properties and, as you state, it seems like they used a very heavy plastic. I mean... honestly... a plastic ocarina is going to be much more rugged than a ceramic one and probably more forgiving too. Cool find. Great playing. Thanks for sharing.

Me too! I've seen a lot of low quality plastic instruments over the years so hearing "plastic" definitely has bad associations. But I think a focus on quality craftsmanship can make for fantastic plastic instruments 😊

Me too, I was going to go for a ceramic one for my first ocarina, but after watching some videos, I decided to go for this one for two reasons, 1) it was cheap, so no big deal if I decide it's not for me, and 2) if I drop it, which I probably will, it won't break. lol

Lovely sound! I have been wanting to purchase a Ocarina but still undecided if I want plastic or ceramic. I have never played any air wind instrument :) I also purchased a Recorder wind instrument too , so we shall see. What is the difference from the AC and the Sc model? Wonderful, ocarinas are so lovely 😊 The AC stands for "alto C" and is the standard range for an ocarina (that's the one I have). SC stands for "soprano C" and is pitched an octave higher!

You got lucky on the price. I ordered mine through amazon last November, paid $80 before tax. 3 months after it arrived i was sent a shipping bill for $26. But I does sound great.

Great Video, it's fun to watch you doing this review. I bought this ocarina because of your recommendation, but may I ask you a question? I'm really insecure whether the ocarina i purchased is broken or whether I am not able to play it properly, but every key higher than "g" sounds horrible 😣 is there any trick for playing the higher notes so that I only have to practice or should I return it and buy another one?

Kinda late here, but try to google the "acute bend" technique! It can help a lot with higher notes!

Guitar can be so daunting! If you want a guitar type of instrument, a ukulele can be a little less complicated. Another great idea might be a Merlin - it's tuned to make playing chords super simple! 😊 amzn.to/2UIPL9B

Im here because of the ocarina, but as a guitar player that understands the struggle: a good advice for the guitar (besides selling it) is to don't underestimate the instrument but even LESS overestimate it, guitar is all about cheating with style, learn any 3 chords (those weird finger positions) and you can play like 30% of all songs... my recommendation and personal favorite is *'"Fingerstyle"* (I mostly use a pick) *Spanish songs'* they sounds good, look fancy and are easier to play than almost any other songs.

This one sounds a lot more impressive but trust me its literally the first vid with 1 different left hand position and just "randomly" strum the guitar with your pick, aka people will clap kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqjbiKGYodKpntU&ab_channel=AlexiosAnest 3). My utimate "weapon" kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4HIc5h-hJWJgtk song is literally a stone like left hand and a simple pattern on the right, combine this with the previous 2 and you have become a master guitarist! (or Spanish "fingerstyle") If you ever do learn this, or even read it and want to learn something else I do recommend to KZbin search more cords and later revisit his (Ben Woods Guitar - numbers 3 vid) "basics" guide. Either way good luck mate!

This my first Ocarina. I have small, arthritic fingers but it feels nice and secure, the notes are easy to reach. ( I do play Native American flute and Pen whistle.). I haven't dropped it yet! And yes the sound is good. I'd go and just play and enjoy!

I bought one not for music, it looks amazing, like an alien gun. Great sculptural piece too. Nice to hear it too. $30 is an amazing price for it. Plus it has Zelda Ocarina of time links, 🤔

@@david-krassnig I’ve noticed that spit collects in the instrument which makes it sound bad, so you have to hold it straight while playing and learn to swallow it. Also try blowing harder on higher notes. I think you get used to how it works as you play more
