Three years ago, I discovered this channel and was inspired to learn the ocarina. I got a clay one for $26 on Amazon and was so excited I had memorized the fingerings and some basic songs before it even arrived! Since then your tutorials have helped me evolve into an accomplished musician, and I've been able to play pieces like Megalovania and the Swallowtail Jig. This never would have happened if not for you so thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life! Edit: Hey thanks for the ❤️, Mr. Ramos! It means so much! Sorry I was chatty on the streams. I'm just so psyched about ocarinas!

From my experience, the Focalink definitely is most accessible in Europe. I'd seen the noble, and never heard of the STL plastic, but I bought the Focalink from Thomann and had it shipped from Germany. It's important to note that if you're shipping into the EU from outside it, you'll have to pay import VAT, plus likely a handling fee of about 8-12 EUR. I know it's that way in the UK at least and I imagine other countries are the same. If you buy from within the EU, all you have to worry about is the actual shipping fee.

One that I can definitely recommend for beginners is the 7 hole Alto C Ocarina of Time from Songbird Ocarina. It is easy to play, even for a right handed person like myself who for some strange reason opted for the left handed version (wanted to be as close to the game version as possible I suppose). I was in band for several years so that helped me in teaching myself how to play. Even so I still turned to your videos for help, and when I tell people how I learned to play I often if not always mention you. I've also saved some of your videos to a playlist which I often play at work so that I may enjoy them without searching through KZbin (my coworkers enjoy the music too). Thank you for sharing this wonderful instrument, and I look forward to hearing your rendition of some of the songs of the next Zelda game.

I'm a big LoZ fan so my ex bought me a STL ceramic double Ocarina 8 years ago. With all the holes I was confused and became discouraged. It had been in storage for years until I recently went through and found it. I was so excited! I came upon your videos and gave the double Ocarina another try but quickly realized once again that I need to start off with an Ocarina for beginners. I've been looking for several days and was in between a few including STL, Focalink, and Night by Noble. After watching this video I made my choice earlier and I ordered the STL plastic 12 hole Ocarina with LoZ song book, the black Night by Noble, and "Hal Leonard Ocarina Method" by Cris Gale. I'm so excited to receive it all! I am going to continue watching your videos because they are great and give me so much motivation. I not only want to learn songs from LoZ but I want to learn to play the Ocarina in general. I used to play the piano and violin so I have understanding of reading music but no where near where I want to be and I know your videos will be a major help in my journey.

I think that the STL plastic ocarina of time is especially good for young musicians. I play ocarina and my little brother wanted to learn how to play. With small fingers and a lack of precision it's difficult enough for a young beginner to cover the fingerholes, but the STL ocarina of Times's fingerholes are actually indented, which makes it really tactile. Compared to the other two options in the video, it's much easier to feel where your fingers should be. The noble and this STL ocarina are both also smaller than your average alto c, which makes them ideal for young musicians.

I have a question as a beginner ocarina player. I've had the STL plastic ocarina for a couple of years. I was practicing for a while but sort of stopped when my sister said it sounded like a recorder. I want to get into it again but I've had issues with my ocarina specifically hitting the higher notes and with spit collecting in the windhole after a short time of playing. I don't know if that's a personal problem or if you have videos addressing these issues already, but I thought I would ask if you have any solutions to this.
@DavidErickRamos5 жыл бұрын
Plastic ocarinas tend to have a problem with condensation from your breath, so you have to give it a sharp blow after playing for a bit to clear any moisture from the windway. For the high notes, check out the video I posted on Tuesday about the acute bend.
