Spencer in my younger years I use to fish the elk river which is a tributary off the Tennessee River in North Alabama. The Elk River is a wood infested River system and I would target big flat head at night. Watching you fish at night brings back memories. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stenosis in my upper spine and I had to stop catfishing. I mostly crappie and smallmouth fish now but I spent many of late nights hunting for those mean flathead. I love your style because itnis exactly how I use to fish. I would use big bluegill and crappie for bait and would catch some really big fish. I know the fish are still in tbe Elk River but I just can't fight them anymore. Anyway...live your channel, your style and most of all your knowledge. Great job.

One of the things we do in Missouri when fishing the Mississippi is to drift with the current and hold the rod in our hand and bounce the bait off of the bottom, it seems to trigger strikes. For those who wonder why it's easier to catch catfish at night instead of during the day is that during the day, especially on hot days catfish tend to suspend in cover especially where there's shade and they go into almost a catatonic state. Then once the sun starts going down they wake up and come out of hiding and start to feed.

Oh not a mess from my standpoint! Just a real fishing trip. I've had my challenges too but not with fish of this "caliber". They usually become funny stories to share. You do a great job and all videos are fun and may times a learning experience. Like someone told me years ago. "You can't be Snoopy everyday!" Save on/from lead sinkers and use old railroad track spikes. They're all over anywhere near RR lines. Give 'em a couple coats of flex seal roofing epod and you're good to go. The flex seal protects lines from abrasion.

What size net do you throw on the river? My 5 footer must not sink fast enough I have a hard time catching bait in any depth or current

I throw an 8 and a 10 when I'm in places they're legal. It definitely makes a difference for big baits.

I'm actually fishing now having a tough time out in South Carolina even getting eater size cats usually I can catch some bait to use but down here since I moved I haven't been able to what is a good strategy to catch some eater size cats without shad or bluegill that will also maybe entice a big boy
