One of my faves this! Very similar also to Island of Terror. Patrick Allen had such a distinctive voice ( his voice was the dudded for the character Rex in The Devil Rides Out, another Chris Lee classic).

Nice one Phil. Remember this but one i likely fell asleep to in my adolescent years. I did rewatch Island Of Terror a couple of years back which was good. Shame to underuse Mr Cushing but a great cast here. Love Christopher Lee... arrogance included and prime Jane Merrow would tempt me tbf, stunner! Remember her from Hands Of the Ripper. Thanks for reminding us of Patrick Allen's voicework and the Barratt's ads :) Another great voice from a bygone era. That ending 😀, a classic case of "that'll do", it seems Terence Fisher thought so anyway. If you get a knock at your door for naughty words Phil just send Bones to answer. No messing.

Its got some great actors in it. Just wished the screenplay was better.

Great fun as always Phil. I know of this film but have never seen it. Considering all the talent involved, pity it does not seem more interesting. Kudos to the cast here, walking round in wet clothes in the middle of winter can't have been fun.

😂brilliant Phil.. I agree about the ending and the aliens..but I love to watch it quite often for the performances of an excellent cast...someone once said the aliens just resemble giant fried eggs on hidden castors...!!..bit like the ones plodding around black Park in island of terror!!....Jane Merrow was very sexy in this..but a wonderful performance in hands of the ripper..nice one phil..hammergazz 😊

I enjoyed your review. I haven't seen this film. If I watch it sometime, I won't expect greatness. It looks like it might be entertaining. I'll just keep my expectations low, and I won't be disappointed but can appreciate the good things about it. 👍

Its better than a lot of modern films. At least it has good actors, just the ending was very poor.

What a pathetic ending to the film 😂 Pip & Jane Baker were experienced writers, but I don't think sci-fi was their forte. Patrick Allen -Barrat homes 😂 did he not also do voiceovers for Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer's comedy shows? 👍

Patrick Allen was the Announcer on " Vic Reeves Big Night Out " and " The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer " .

I really disliked the soap opera around Patrick Allen's character, and would have preferred the film to stick closer to Lee and Cushing. The romance track in Island of Terror is just kind of a background thing - the love interest pops in and out, tries to make herself useful in-between - while the focus remains on the scientists trying to beat the problem. Big Heat is a lesser movie for not doing that.

Yes totally agree with you on that. This film could have been so much better. Pity is wasn’t a Hammer movie, they would’ve done a much better job.
