I heard this animation helped get you guys on Spotify, is that true? If so, I'm glad. Found you guys from this, been listening to your other content on there because of it. It's great. I hope you guys do more collabs like this with Dan. This was a killer combo, both your music and his vocals remind me of the 80s stuff I love that few bother to replicate or iterate on today. This was hands down your best song, and, imo, Dan's best song too. It's like your music and his voice were made for each other. I'm shocked this has been around for over 2 years, why is it only getting animated just now? XD If you guys want other vocal collab ideas, you should also consider collabing with Mystery Skulls or Shelby Merry. Either of them would make a killer combo as well.

keiiilalei but mostly it’s not afraid to speed up so you have to watch it 3 times and once in slow motion to let it sink in
@NickDe35 жыл бұрын
It's really nice and works at some moments but I feel it does that too much. Long shots should be used a little more sparingly. The cuts and transitions are really fluid but they don't sync with the soundtrack as often as it should. Nearly 30% of the video is a few frames off in addition to being too slow when the song prompts it to speed up.
@NickDe35 жыл бұрын
As an editor, I might make my own cut. I really like the story it's trying to tell and would be fun to mess with.
@NickDe35 жыл бұрын
After working with it for a bit I've found the bits I have issue with. The speed ramps lack the impact I like as it is already slow when the slow motion hits. It needs a little more variety. Some parts of the action sequence (particularly the entrance because that flash of electricity seemed like it wanted to be synced with the music), a lack of cuts and close up of the characters in those scenes, and there was a flash frame at the end that was distracting. Still love it though. The animator did amazing work.

The pain in his voice, the rise of the music behind it, the fact that he feels so much has gone to hell because of the need for revenge for a wrong he'll never right and the decision to follow that path causing a wave of regret that he'll never escape, it's incredible how much is said with so few words. This, folks, is why verbal imagery is one of my favourite parts of storytelling.

I love the recurring symbolism in this. Each one of the three fighers has a glowing symbol on their forehead - a triangle for the main protagonist, and a star and square for the other two. A glowing circle is the symbol of the one killed at the very beginning. At 1:20, the coins and bleeding circle show the protagonist weighing in his mind whether the stolen gold or his murdered friend are his real motivation; we see this indecision depicted again as the bullet flies upwards through a mix of falling gold and falling bodies. When the three finally enter the club however, glowing circles appear on the screens, showing they're not there for the gold that was stolen; they're there because of their fallen friend. When the protagonist fires his last bullet, we see it not only fly through a square and a star - because it was shot to protect his companions - but right before it hits the villain, it flies through a glowing circle, because it was also shot to avenge the one he lost. Finally, as the main protagonist walks away - not even caring about the gold - we see him transform into his fallen friend, to show that his spirit lives on in him. Masterfully done.

The lyrics are important too. It's a song about the futility of a life of violence, juxtaposed with a video telling a story of violent revenge. When gun wolf fires his last shot and there's a smaller version of himself pouring his heart out in a very out of character moment compared to the rest of the video, I believe it's probably his conscience. He's throwing away a part of himself every time he commits an act of violence, regardless of whatever justification he comes up with for it, and it hurts him deeply.

The casual way that Triangle dances towards the Moose with a sort of disregard for everything happening around them...The way the dancing figure on the bullet makes you FEEL all the pain and fury and grief that Triangle is feeling, while the lack of background for the shot makes it feel like nothing exists except Triangle, the bullet, Moose, and the two fallen wolves...This, combined with the way Triangle instantly drops the gun as soon as the shot lands and simply turns to leave, and the final shot of a black background with only Circle. there are so many things i love about this music video; - just. ALL the transitions at the start of the video, cutting between the Golden Bull and the club, and the wolves (Triangle, Star, Square) suiting up. it's all framed SO well (especially the wine tray turning into the revolver, then the revolver turning into a stripper pole) - on that note the transitions all throughout the video are absolutely incredible - the designs of all the characters are killer, even the background characters (like the lizard(?) at 1:51) - "i am a different man" lining up with the shot of Triangle at the start of the video transforming into his vengeance-driven angry self - the little spin he does as he walks towards the Bull is really cute and well animated also LMAO - EVERYTHING about the shots where the Bull breaks Star's sword, with the sword shards reflecting Star and Square and making the whole scene super dynamic - the MAAAAAGNUMMM BUUUULLETTSSSS bit. just. the entire shot. Triangle dancing in time with the lyrics and acting them out, then falling to his knees and screaming in anguish and the expressions and emotions are done SO WELL. plus the bullet flying through the symbols of his friends, including Circle, since he fired that bullet for them - Triangle not even looking back to get the gold, all he wanted to do in the end was avenge Circle literally just the entire music video is incredible, Knights of the Light Table do unbelievably good jobs with animation

@Romulus Rattus Yeah, that's the metric I use, and going by that, there have been furries around since at least ancient Egypt. There and Native American culture is where I got into the fandom in the early '00's (On top of being a Disney kid of the 90's)...can't say I regret it. Watched a vid a while back at a con where a dude who was a furry and a statistician was giving a presentation on the little survey data he could collect (this is about 2008 I believe, and mostly online) that most furries join the fandom around 14-18yrs. and have usually left by age 25 and the whole fandom seems to skew 90/10 male/female and about the same for gay/straight. I believe this is why Furries get a bad rap. Almost all people in the fandom are going through puberty while most of the established artists are adults while also being gay dudes...so the whole sex and style angle should be par for the course. Why is there a ton of porn on the net of superhero's? Young boy audience, older male artists, brought together by cool concepts and designs...but it really is a double whammy for most who come from religious conservative families. You're doubly immoral, you're a sodomite and an animal fucker...but lets just gloss over the fact that EVERYTHING is a capital offense in the bible. Worked on Sunday? Dead. Wore a mix of fabrics? Dead. Shaved your beard? Dead. Your daughter wasn't a virgin on her wedding night? Husband, go stone her in front of her father's house...and don't make fun of bald people or god might send two bears to maul you and 42 of your friends...good rules... We also love to ignore the fact that Homo Sapiens is the classification of an animal, with all the boons and baggage that entails. Hell, many of us still operate much of the time using the ancient, unchanged remnants of the reptilian brain deep within our own... Primal fear, unbridled lust, self-centered destructiveness...common calling cards of we creatures called humans...only I'd argue we are far more dangerous because most animals cannot grasp concepts like honor and justice while mainly concerning themselves with survival so they will find no need to push the aforementioned emotions to a heightened state. We humans however have a brain so big that it can create an artificial world within the mind that appears to be reality where we can spontaneously create conditions that can send us rocketing in any number of directions in a reality which we may be completely blind to, or perhaps see through subtle distortions and incomplete pieces, like the multitude of jagged shards of broken mirror, a million shades of the same light...

@the fifth The animation director for this video - Patrick Stannard (he was also a producer on Starlight Brigade) - has also worked on Netflix's Castlevania if you want to see more animation like this. You can especially see the stylistic similarities in Star Wolf's fighting style and the way the 2 characters with claw hands use their prosthetic limbs like whips. It's really cool! Also the show is just really good.

The visual themes and direction are so stunning. Like the bullet flying through the neon symbols of all the living wolf pack members and the the final shape the bullet flys through is a circle- not in neon, but the exit wound it creates, for the fallen member of their group. I love how the circle was given to the fallen wolf and represents the circular nature of revenge, like what goes around comes around. I could gush for hours. It's such a great song and such fantastic animation.

@@brianmcdermott3938 Honestly using animals is a great way to show representation of personality, the only reason I didn't use an animal in my art project for cyberbullying was because the scariest thing about cyberbullies isn't that they're a monster, it's just they're another human, they could be anyone you know. In this case, it represents a lot, from the pack mentality of the wolves, seeking blood for blood, to the regal majesty of the moose.

@@frknspacewizardbrett6044 Ha! I can see that. I remember one time this guy rolled a nat 20. The DM knew what HE wanted, rather than his party, so the bullet ricocheted 5 times before nailing the guy they were trying to fool between the eyes. It was hilarious. Guard ran up asking what happened shortly after, our bard rolled a nat 20 as well, and somehow convinced them all that the guy shot himself. It was unbelievable. Sure he's not holding a gun. Don't mind the smoking barrel from one of our party members, he's just shooting firecrackers or something. What, you say bullets can't ricochet 180 degrees and hit the shooter between the eyes? Well this guy was just a try hard. Always had to prove everyone wrong I say. Oh, the cartridge round matches the caliber of our members smoking guy? That's just a coincidence. I practically passed out I was laughing so hard.

My personal take and observations: Circle Wolf was able to earn a lot of money through gambling, no cheating there if the first still in the credits (4:10) is something to go by. He earns enough money to buy his lover, Triangle Wolf (I interpreted them as lovers but they can easily be relatives as well), that bombass violet jacket as seen in the second still in the credits (4:13), where Circle puts the jacket on Triangle and the jacket has a gold price tag hanging from it. Circle tries to have another go at gambling, and perhaps he earns so much again that the casino refuses to let him go with the gold he earned. To escape, he burns the place down, hence the wanted poster flashing on the screen in the background in the credits' third still (4:18) that says he is responsible for a casino fire. Circle manages to escape though, goes to a den where other wolves and canines are, including Square, but Moose, the casino owner, finds him anyway and has everyone killed and takes the gold as well for compensation since his casino burned down. Afterwards, Triangle and Star Wolf finally enter the scene. Circle is dead which is bad tough luck for Triangle, but fortunately Star's lover, Square Wolf, is still alive albeit gravely injured, hence the arm prosthetic and eye patch later on. It's also worth mentioning that while Circle, Triangle, and Square (initially) had absolutely no prosthetics, Star Wolf does, just check out her legs. I'm thinking that her prosthetic legs along with her yellow jacket mean that she used to work for Moose, a long long time ago perhaps, since he has a recurring yellow theme throughout and almost all the folks at his club and he himself has prosthetics. That and the fact that she has a badass sword as a weapon. A former assassin or something similar perhaps? Another small but important detail is that in the scenes where we see Circle's dead body, he also has a holster and a gun similar to Triangle's (0:34). God, these two poor couples. But all in all, amazing goddamn video. The scene where the bullet flies with Triangle on it never fails to give me chills. A clip of it on Twitter is actually what led me to find this MV on KZbin. EDIT: Someone in the comments below mentioned Triangle and Square being brothers, and I think it checks out. Just take note of the shape of their ears and fur-cheeks. Also, it makes sense why Square would be protecting Circle in the fourth still in the credits (4:22) and that's because Circle is Square's brother's lover. Adds more reason to why Square and his lover Star join Triangle in his quest for revenge. Someone else also mentioned that Circle won fair and square, but Moose/mafia had the casino burned down and have the blame put on Circle just because they're awfully bitter Circle won all the gold. It's a possibility that I buy! EDIT AGAIN: Thanks everyone for the likes and it's nice that a discussion sprang from my word soup. And once again, you can interpret Triangle and Circle's relationship however you like since it's ambiguous after all (same goes for Star and Square, actually); just respect everyone's take and don't be bigots :)
@redrolo1495 жыл бұрын
Even her star is yellow. I was looking to see if any of the others had different colors. Maybe their shapes change color based on relationship with others, for instance those who had worked for the Moose beforehand, may have been the more Yellow colored ones, and the ones that were Never involved with the moose were red. However Reds that became closely involved with the yellows took on some combination of yellow and another color maybe? Like how Square's Square is Green, perhaps from having a close relationship with the yellow Star. Circle's was a Similar color to Triangle's red/pinkish. I couldn't really Make out some of the other colors that well, but in the fourth still shot at the end there was a Variety of them. In the back there was a possibly white Diamond and nearby was a more star-shaped diamond that was more orange. To the right there is an Hourglass shape that looks sort of Peach colored, and one with a heart nearby, that was more pink. The others didn't really seem to be relate to any others via Color and their proximity to each other. Trapezoid to the right which was a red color has prosthetic legs and some of the other had yellow colors too. Perhaps prosthetics are just a big thing in this world. All of this is just guesswork and speculation and probably not that deep at all. Xp

Good analysis spot on. Though the relationship between circ and tri is ambiguous. They could be siblings.

@@jessezondlewski2597 I thought that too for a moment but at the 4:00 minute mark you get a clear shot of Circle & Triangle's faces and they don't look similar at all to me at least (other than being vaguely wolfy). Square and Triangle could definitely be siblings (see their fur-cheeks and ears), hence why Square was in a protective stance in front of Circle in the 4th still in the credits (4:23). I still think Triangle and Circle were lovers though, just look at the body language whenever they're together.
