When I used to work 12 hour shifts back to back (at night), I used to snack during my entire shift and not eat at all when I'd get home. I ended up losing about 12 pounds doing that. 😊

i'm a PCA aka patient care attendant, here in southern california we can only do condom caths, ,assist the nurses with NON-invasive procedures but i did not know about nurse techs having a CNA license and being able to do minimal invasive procedures but it makes sense that they are considered ER techs. I guess its different depending where you live. Great video and night shift rocks! :-)

I once worked 2nd shift. 4 or 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. One time I was driving home. I was in my suburb where I lived and a cop pulled me over. I think he thought I was breaking curfew. I explained I was coming home from work. He didn't give me a warning or anything. But my sleep was so messed up. I 'd stay up until 4 a.m. and wake up around noon, and I would go to Star Bucks. I was a night owl anyways, so second shift really helped. But the job was a stand up job and I was so physically exhausted. But I was mostly working over the weekend: Thursday - Sunday.

Loved this! I just got my CNA over the summer, my course load is really busy this semester so I haven't started looking for jobs yet, but I want to for spring semester. A few questions - how did you find a PRN job at the nursing home you work at? Most of the places that are hiring in my area are full time jobs. And what are some tips on getting hired? Is it competitive to get a job as an aid/tech, or is it more who you know?

Lacie Stewart techs and CNAs are similar, but a tech has a broader scope of practice. For example some techs can draw blood, or check blood sugar. It’s not much of a difference

I just like to say as a nurse that wearing your scrubs in street or your car before hospital it's really disgusting, you are carrying all the bacterias from outside to inside, that can reach all your patients... Idk, thats something that worry me when I see american nurses' videos. Here in Spain thats forbidden for a reason...

As someone that has been in a hospital and has stayed there a lot I can say that I’m actually really thankful for the night shift nurses ( here it’s from 6-6). I’m technically still a pediatric since I’m only 15 but I always got really nice nurses and at night they would go on a walk with me if I wanted, help me get ready for bed, etc. and it was always really nice because they would always come in at like 2am (when my IV finished) and they would try to make sure I didn’t wake up. Sorry for this nonsense of a rant I just love night nurses because I know how hard it can be (day nurses too of course) they just always stuck out to me because even while you’re sleeping they’re still walking around trying to help people even when you don’t realize they are

quick question... alot of times PCT's and CNA's are treated like crap. I'm about to start a PCT job at a small hospital and I want this to work out so badly whereas I too, am a nursing student and in a year and a half, I could potentially be an RN there. My question is to you and any who reads this, how can a person STAY in a position, how do people do it? I had a cna job before but could only hack it for about 3 mos because of other cnas bologna, and really bad nurses. Its a shame because, I need a job and those patients need taken care of. Guess it just takes alot of focus and alot of patience. Thanks girl.
@naomiferguson2815
@naomiferguson2815 6 жыл бұрын
Dana S I'm a night shift PCT in a hospital, and honestly there is no way around lazy/rude coworkers. I just take my job one day at a time and bust my butt all night. I work on a hard floor where there is NO SLOW time and 15 pts for each tech, and on nights when the other tech isn't helping or I get stuck with a nurse that doesn't do "tech work" I just have to suck it up and get it done. Thankfully most of my nurses bust butt as well. Just remember why you are here. Each day/night you work you are gaining experience so you can BEAST it in clinicals. It may be a hard 12hrs, but you can do anything for 12hrs. Plus you get to work in pajamas and help save lives. :D
