I'm painting with my 11 year niece; she's the kind who gets so upset over what she makes no matter how it turns out and gets discouraged easily. I found a few beginner paintings and we both chose this one. Of course, no two pictures are exactly alike and we dont have the specific colors you used but I'm really trying to teach her to wing things. So far it's not too bad, but she's still getting discouraged cuz mine turned out a bit different (I tried to use black in our dark blue cuz it was still pretty light but then I regretted it because the black looks brown lol) and she added more purple and pink to hers at the bottom. Still really glad for this tutorial though, because its helping me to teach her that even if things don't work out exactly like you're wanting, you can still make it look good. So thank you for putting this on here, you're helping me to teach her not to focus intently on the bad things and still look at the overall picture.

Added an extra note; I went to take a break while she continued to paint and listened to the advice I gave her about the purple and pink. She was so excited showing me how its looking, I'm so happy she's not upset at herself.

I’ve just finished painting this, although I’ve completely changed it. It really reminded me of ‘the sycamore gap’ which was a 3 hundred year old famous tree that stood completely alone by the Roman Hadrians Wall in Northumberland north England. It was featured in the film Robin Hood. Last year some crazy vandal cut it down in the middle of the night. I used the background colours, and painted a lone tree, but I added the ‘gap’ swooping hillside. I absolutely love it. I’ve impressed myself. Inspired by your lovely painting.

@@ArterHungary The National Trust removed it from the site and is being kept safe in a storage facility at a secure location.. They took seeds and cutting from the tree and have said there was positive signs of being viable for propagating.
