Now I want to watch Aquaman fight Godzilla in an Amityville Pool.

When I saw the preview of “Night Swim” I immediately thought of “Sting of Death” and was hoping the young folk around the pool would start dancing to “Do the Jellyfish” “Godzilla Minus One” was my favorite movie of last year. Never thought I would tear up at the end of a Godzilla picture…Masterful.

Oppenheimer & Godzilla coming out the same year (and both being really good movies with spectacular explosion scenes) is an INCREDIBLE coincidence!
@goodial Жыл бұрын
not only that. I also saw The Boy and the Heron and Godzilla Minus One on the same day: both good Japanese movies that use fantastical elements to deal with WWII and its consequences :)

I had no idea what to expect out of the Godzilla movie. I hadn’t seen any previews and no one I knew were talking about it. My husband and I decided to go to the movies on a whim and picked Godzilla because it was really the only thing that sounded okay that we hadn’t seen. So glad we saw it. I was glued from start to end.

You are so right about Godzilla’s eyes during the boat chase! That was genius right there. I’m glad you ended up catching it. I did 3 showings myself, going from a Thursday night preview to a show on it’s last day in town. My favorite character was the boat captain. He’s that perfect kind of Japanese honorable smartass!

0:54 A killer spa? I thought this one American Dad episode made that up. 1:50 And without the Super Soldier Serum, too! 4:01 Surprisingly, me too, they were fun, exciting, and emotional at parts. Maybe those DC movies underperformed because some online critics SAY they will, forming some kind of loop effect or something. 6:49 Is there any continuity to Japanese Godzilla or does he have his own Multiverse now?
@nuclearlemonade7519 Жыл бұрын
Japanese Godzilla has like 10 different timelines at this point Showa, Heisei and Millennium are the divided eras which all have their own continuity, sometimes connected to the preceding movie, sometimes not, but then in the Millennium era there are at least 4 different timelines you go through lol, but the commonality behind all those is that the original 1954 Godzilla pretty much always happened so they’re all sequels to the original. Except Shin Godzilla and Minus One which are basically reboots of 54

Haven't seen night swim yet, but just like I predicted it ticked off the 3 biggest check marks. Blum house for budget, January dumping ground for straight to DVD horror that gets a theatrical run, and of course PG 13 rating. I'll just wait for it on peacock to stream it.

everytime I saw a poster for Night Swim, I kept thinking it was a live action adaptation of that horrifying animated short that had lovecraftian body horror and a shimmer at the bottom of the pool leading to a hell dimension.

Aquaman was honestly a perfect way to end the DCEU: It wasn't fantastic and had its low points, but enough of it was entertaining that I think the good parts were worth it. This gave me everything I liked about the first one: Momoa being awesome, the creative world and fun action. I think it was the best DCEU movie of the year (although I haven't seen Blue Beetle) and I have nothing but high hopes for the new universe. James Gunn knows his superhero movies.

Didn't see the pool movie so can't comment My problem with Aquaman 2 is the same as the first in that it felt like it had no substance. Like it was so boilerplate paint by numbers you could predict what was going to happen or see scenes included because they had to be to make a checklist. I really enjoyed getting back to "evil" Godzilla and him being a threat against people in minus one. It's the first time my gf saw one like that and after seeing the monster verse ones she was all down for minus one Godzilla. Plus it's cool seeing his destruction with the atomic breath and wrecking ginza

@andyhoov Жыл бұрын
Night Swim - I was interested what direction they'd take the killer pool concept and was sufficiently disappointed. I've seen too many people get possessed by crappy CGI black clouds. Aquaman 2 - I loved how big and stupid the first one was, and this one was slightly less big and stupid. So, I enjoyed it but not as much as the original. I do appreciate how these movies at their core are really just silly fantasy films. Godzilla - Fucking great. I've seen every Godzilla movie and this definitely ranks among the absolute best.

I actually enjoyed Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The Flash was ok, I guess. Mostly because Keaton is in it. And I liked Sasha Calle. I think Lucas Till would've been a way better Barry Allen. Aquaman, I'll see it once it hits digital. Not really in a rush.

Minus One is the best Godzilla film to date. Unfortunately, though, one of the reasons the budget is so low is because there are no unions for crew members and actors in the Japanese film industry so most of them are paid next nothing.
