Many years ago, it was suggested that we do a program shot at night. This was the result, and was one of our first DVD releases.
The show opens as the sun goes down, capturing the rush of trains in and out of Chicago Union Station at dusk. We then move to rural and small town areas during the overnight hours. Narration is minimal, with graphics giving information about trains and locations.
Passenger trains at speed and making station stops, manifest freights, intermodal and coal trains are all seen. There is also an extended sequence with an Illinois Central SD40-2 doing switching work on a local freight. A highlight has to be a Canadian National intermodal train with a Wisconsin Central SD45 in the consist of an intermodal train in a thunderstorm.
