Not in pieces, went home intact, so all good I reckon Martyn. All the best.

Hi Howie, thanks for yoru comment, I think I made a few Basic errors - the first issue was the Trim tab was set full right - but I do not know how as it bleeps when pressing it ?? - as for the 2nd flight - it did act as if the CG was not correct and it was tail heavy - but as you say I got home and has had a full mechanical check over and reset , trims set to (0) on the TX - lets see how it goes next time out. Stay well Howie, Martyn

As I love mine - I have had lots of flights all great but being in storage from May 15 2022 until this flight seems to have totally messed it UP !!!! - need to check it out and sort it out because I like it a lot...

Adam - it is great to be back at the field and flying again - She sure took me by surprise the last flight I did with this one was no problem at all - I have corrected all the servos (Mechanically so all trims set to 0 at this point ) - and looking back I might have used a much lighter camera on the top ahead of the CG - so it could have well been a little tail heavy - but not by much - will see how she fly's next time out - thanks for watching and all your help - hope you both stay safe and look after each other - Martyn

The return of the 'good 'ol' Night Walrus. It has been a faithful plane for you. I sold mine years ago. Lovely day for flying Martyn. Not here as very windy 42kph. Anxious to try out the Twin Timber. Remember....Spring is a commin'

I cannot believe you had such bad luck with the Walrus. Amazing that you live close to where I have filmed years ago At Thetford & Bury S E...Dad's Army country. Wonderful area

Noel - I think it was trying to tell me to get my act together , give me a surprise (wakeup call) but stay in one piece , the first flight was trim 100% to the right on Ailerons - how it got like that I do not know, as for the 2nd flight it did act as if it was Tail heavy - and again looking back on other videos I can see I use a light wright Mobius 808 rather than the Orange Runcam - this could have contributed to the flight problems, regardless to all this it also need a full service - this has been done and it is now ready to go again - Stay well Noel, Winter is coming .... (for us here).. Martyn

Funny how the model gremlins change things whilst in storage! So frustrating, you expect a simple nice flight .....and get that! Must admit my walrus is on its last legs now - carbon spar worked its way into one wing over time with the inevitable snap and crash damage - still flying but as much wood and glue now as foam! Looks like you have survived the gremlins well Martyn! Glad to see you and look forward to your next video.

Hi Paul - good to hear from you, It sure did take my by surprise - the first time, no left control - was easy to spot - I mush have knocked the trims all the way over while I was chatting with people, but as for the Tail heavy behaviour, at the time had no idea what it could be - then looking back on the last flight I did in 2022 with it - I did have a heavier camera ahead of the CG on that flight - the one I used for this flight was lighter , that might explain what happened, regardless all the moving surfaces have been set to neutral ( 0 trim ) and checked , it will be interesting to see what happens next flight - this will be the first to go up next time I am at the field. Sorry about your Walrus - they are great fun to fly - I might check the spar on mine just to be sure its ok - Paul, look after yourself and stay safe - Next flight should be soon.. Martyn

Hi Gena, it really was a shock to see it do this - first flight I can understand but how the trim got to full right I do not.... as for 2nd flight I might have contributed to the tail heavy situation, but it has been fully serviced and is good to go - say hi to Hubster for me - both of you stay safe and well - Martyn

with the way the right aileron looked when you were walking back i got a feeling you might have a bent connector rod Martyn! at least she's in one piece something that can't be said ion some previous issues!!

Hi Keith - just goes to show how these things can take you by surprise, did a full mechanical service on it yesterday and it is now ready to go again... I expect it will need some trim but it should fly at least... Thanks Keith - Stay safe and well - Martyn

@FlankerTanker Жыл бұрын
Hi Dean - absolutely, she has had a full mechanical service , everything checked and repaired - quite a long list - one thing I did find was the Elevator pressed foam hinge was starting to rip , flaps and Ailerons now level in Flaps up configuration, flaps move same amount when set, she now has a good chance to fly straight... well as straight as I can make her fly , Stay safe and well - Martyn

Nice to see you back at it Martyn!! Unusual for a plane to go out of trim like that, did you find out what caused it? Was it changing to a new radio?
@FlankerTanker Жыл бұрын
Hi Ian - I think it was a combination of things - New TX did not help ..LOL... some strange settings , also wrong weight camera (too light) ahead of the CG (making it a little tail heavy) also all the servo mechanical setting we wrong, so re did them all - trims now back to (0) - CG re marked and we will see how she fly's next time I am down at the field - Stay safe both you and your camera crew - Martyn

Hi Ironmover - yes indeed it was a new Radio , I have no idea how the trim was set full right on the Ailerons, I have reset it all , checked Expo..etc... done a complete service of the airframe - it is now good to go - lets see if it works.. - stay safe and keep well - Martyn

Hi Chris - I think its more than just the Servos - user did not help much - having trims set to full Right aileron !!! and I do not know how I did that, but it has had a full service and I think should be better next time... I'll throw it around the sky a little bit to test it.. Cheers Chris - Martyn
