When he mentioned Tab and Chance, I smiled. Chance was an officer for 20 or so years and was the provider so when Tab gained her spotlight, she retired him because he worked hard for 20 years and told her to focus on what she loved doing which was acting. I think it's beautiful that she retired him and is rewarding him.

My parents were together for 50 years until my Mom passed. Fundamentally they respected and really liked each other and admired what the other person was good at. He's an introvert, she loved people. He didn't want to go, he'd pay for her to go with her friends, then he'd be happy hearing she enjoyed herself. Respect and boundaries.

The issue stems from people falling in love with the idea of the person instead of the reality of the person. I understand people say “don’t settle” but that means dont settle for someone who just satisfies superficial needs you have (money, clout, attention). True marriages and relationships are non stop work and most people are not willing to put in that work.

It starts with the individuals themselves first tho. Marriage is both an inside and outside work. If they don't have a solid foundation, then of course the home they built won't last. No matter the repairs. It will not last.

Mr. Sharpe hit the nail on the head. A lot of people are putting all their business on Social Media. In addition, folks gotta understand that everything in marriage & relationships is not going to be peaches & cream. When I have relationship issues & if I need advice, I go to my closest friend who has been married to her husband 43 years or I would ask an elderly woman who was married a long time & now she is a widow. IMHO, the reason that the divorce rate is sky high is folks aren’t willing to work out a problem & there’s too much telling of their personal relationship business. BLESSINGS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!!

I believe Teyana. So many of these women celebrities are tied up with men who cannot handle their shine. They deserve emotionally, intelligent men who support their talents and their careers, and want to be true covenant mates with them. A good example of this is Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett. They support each other. I loved seeing Courtney standing up and cheering when Angela won the Golden Globe. He does not seem the least bit bothered by her success. He appears to be a mature man and a good father to boot.

Those are mature men and men of character. Angela B’s husband is just that. He’s a man of honor seems like. Seems like he’s a secure man. Secure in himself and his wife. A lot of these men now days were not men who were even shown love growing up. Let alone how to love themselves or someone else. It’s just sad that men want us to be these docile women but also make money and be educated but not make more than him or be more educated. It’s kind of like we are danged if we do, and danged if we don’t.

Chad, those were great questions. Personally, we are lost. A lot of people grew up not knowing what a successfully healthy marriage looks like. Then you have 2 vastly different individuals that are coming together, but cannot form a union. Dreams are different and aren’t supported by each party, financial goals are different, sexual preferences are different(monogamy isn’t for everyone) and sometimes people just lack emotional intelligence to take their marriage to the next level. People need the work on themselves before marriage and not get into relationships with people you do not see yourself with long term.

@@christopherlee8072 A successfully healthy marriage does not mean that it’s rainbows and kisses all the time. There are boundaries that needs to be set, there is respect and understanding. Yes people do fight and there are trials, however, it’s how do you get out of it. If there are never solutions and repetition of that trial, then marriage doesn’t become successful. Ocho with the GROWTH…I love it! He mentioned Duke…I watch his podcast Nice & Neat with Omar and Jalon, and all of them are very intentional about personal growth. Relationship problems aren’t “relationship problems”, they’re lack of personal growth problems. I believe the divorce rate will start to decrease once people start doing the work to evolve and become better humans BEFORE getting into a relationship. When two people come together who are intentional about growing and becoming the best version of themselves that’s possible whatever challenges life throws their way, they’ll be able to handle TOGETHER. And then there’s the whole compatibility factor that people overlook…lots of people just end up in relationships with people they never should have been with in the first place, but that’s another issue so I digress…

I think the “no matter what” is the issue. In a marriage, you shouldn’t be doing no matter what. You made a commitment to a person so doing whatever you want and hurting others is not the choice you should be making. If you continue to be selfish and hurt people, then the person who is getting hurt has a right to decide to set boundaries for themselves. If you want your marriage to last, make better decisions or you run the risk of losing the person you love. So the onus is on the person who keeps harming to preserve the marriage, not the person who was harmed. I don’t blame people for not adhering to the no matter what stance anymore. Now of course I’m referring to big issues. Not things that can be worked out.

IMO, Selfishness and disrespectfulness leads to Divorce and a lot of people get selfish and don't respect the union of marriage. It happens too often. I agree Chad we as men have to copy men that are happily and successfully married to their wife long term.

Lol why are we listening to the advice of a lifelong ba bachelor who ain't never been married? I'm confused as to how and why folks think he's qualified to speak on this. Also, before, just as it is in many places, folks stayed married in the past cuz folks didn't have access to divorce (based on the means). Men have been leaving relationships for centuries with little to no consequences, the only difference now is that everyone can file and women aren't forced to put up with the abuse of our grandmothers

They completely skated over the fact that this lady said her husband was allegedly unfaithful, suffered emotional abuse, and he crashed her car while drunk and fled the scene. Somehow this became a discussion about Shannon’s dogs sleeping in the bed being a non negotiable when he’s dating a woman…how? On the other hand, I can appreciate Ocho sounding like he really wants to make a relationship work and that he’s willing to compromise. Shannon just sounds like it’s his way or the highway…God bless him…smh

It’s his show, he can decide where the discussions go. If you dont like it, maybe go watch something else more fitting to you like The View. Besides, a wealthy and well accomplished man like Shannon has the financial capacity and social stature to attract a wide variety of women across all ages, so im sure he’s doing fine by “his self” and only sleeps on a lonely bed if he decides that particular night that the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

Many marry for the wrong reasons or marry the wrong person. Love is the glue that holds marriages together. Marriage is a serious commitment and if you are truly committed you work through the tough times and learn to compromise. However, when you’re talking about lives lived in the spotlight, that’s a whole different animal. Egos, money, the environment and lifestyles of the rich and/or famous can make a long term marriage very difficult to sustain for obvious reasons.

@@truthseekingfreethinker5214 Love is the basis for any sustained relationship with anyone. Money, sex, beauty can’t sustain a relationship because those things may come and go. Without love you have absolutely nothing. So yes it takes more than love, like commitment, compromise, fidelity compatibility, financial stability doesn’t mean rich just stable. And your relationship has to be your priority. And I totally agree that there are men and women who aren’t stable enough or capable of sustaining a long term relationship with anyone because it’s all about them all the time.

It’s always funny to me how people say marriage is hard. Man it’s no more hard than dating different people all the time or being in a non-married relationship. As my husband and I went through some tough times as we matured in our relationship, I told him that I only deal with some of his “crap” (most being miscommunication and some tactical stuff) because I love him and because he’s my husband, because baby I wouldn’t dare give any man that didn’t marry me this much of my energy. But once you comb out the communication issues other things tend to become much easier to solve. My husband has a desire to be better and grow as a person, same as I do, and that’s why we work, even when we are not seeing eye to eye. But we want to best for each other regardless of how much attention the other is getting. If my husband is shining we both win, if I am shining we both win. Iman seemed damaged in that department and there is no fixing a broken man that is jealous of you as their wife. That woman publicly put that man on a pedestal and it still wasn’t enough. That’s crazy to me.

Believe me Shannon is no fool at throwing his money around. I love my SSU brother!💙🧡 PS. Never say what you won’t do. There is nothing wrong with opening a car door for a lady. Adapting to changes in life won’t kill you, but make you go stronger . We have to get out of our own way as people. When the right woman comes along you’ll do what it takes. The same goes for women!❤

This is so true. The only reason I’m engaged now is because I decided to be as vulnerable as possible and completely trust my partner hoping they won’t hurt. Me on purpose. I met her and I’ve loved it ever since. Whether it’s getting married or not, we as humans want companionship, no matter what legality comes with it . We either share I knit out with one person, or keep dating, or die alone.

His dog gives him JOY & PEACE 2 off the most important things in Life. Just because in your mind you may feel what can a dog do, no he cant get sexual gratification no a dog can't brung in an incone (some do), no the dog can't verbally talk with him ( but they can if the bond is strong) which he seems to have. This does not make this man GAY, he has tapped into what helps & make his life PEACEFUL...and no amount of pussy or $$$ will or can change that. Please try not to assume or judge because it isn't your job 2 do so. This man is HAPPY with self & what he requires in LIFE

My wife and I have been married for 32 years now. A woman needs her space just like a man needs his. Mutual respect and trust are key ingredients to a long-term relationship. It's not all about one person or the other. Each partner must have a heart for their mate without losing a sense of self. Each person has to love the other for who that person is as an individual. That's what I have found to be paramount. Women don't like clingy men but they do need to feel loved, needed and cared for and money alone can't cover all those bases.

I was in a relationship with someone in the cannabis industry. I have a catering company and one of the farmers wanted to work with me. Business for me was booming. His boys were raving about my business and he was downplaying my bi,. One day he asked about my profit margins and he said "That's WAY more than me!" My girlfriend overheard the conversation and told me that it would cause a problem. I dismissed her warning and from that moment, things got worse because he was secretly in competition with me. We split 4 years later and he is still pissed.
