I’m a black pats fan, anyone who says mayo shouldn’t have been fired did not watch the games and is not keyed into the local media about what was going on, at most you could say is he was scapegoated by the org for their own failings, but he was brought in to be a culture reset from Bill bc he was a player first guy and somehow the culture was even worse, the whole wr room was openly hostile to him, everyone tuned him out, and bc he was never a play caller he had no other ability to influence games, I feel like I had as much impact on the game watching at home, so he couldn’t do the one thing he was supposed to bring to the table, to the point the Krafts were literally asking other teams for help managing him and the team, it was really really bad and he was clearly in over his head and never should’ve been hired in the first place

Woah there unc, huge difference in what you’re talking about. Mayo didn’t get fired just because the team was bad, he got fired because he lost the locker room. He went into public press conferences time and time again and threw the players and coaching staff under the bus to try covering his own ass. I’m the biggest pats fan on the planet and I couldn’t be more grateful for what Mayo did for us as a player but as a head coach he was terrible. What’s the 1 constant we see across ALL great head coaches? In public press conferences when their team loses they take the blame, when their team wins they credit the team. It’s your job to have that team ready to play week to week. If you don’t think your team is playing hard you address that to your team, you don’t go in a press conference and say “we’re a soft football team”. Well damn, you’re the coach; why is your team looking soft? Because they’re unprepared game to game which is the responsibility of the coach. You want to know the fastest way to lose a teams respect? By not only failing to take responsibility but taking it a step further and publicly putting the blame on others. Shannon I have heard you hundreds of times say you were fine with criticism if a coach went about it the right way. Mayo disrespectfully criticized the entire roster in the worst possible way in attempt to make himself look better. I don’t know unc personally but I know for damn sure if a coach publicly disrespectfully criticized him several times in attempt to save face for himself he woulda lost all respect for that coach. That’s why Jared got fired

He's not bringing Derrick Henry with him, who really allowed us to get away with that style of play. I don’t see why people call Vrabel a great coach! I’m a Titans fan and when he took over as HC the Titans had a record of 12-5 the year before. We had beat Kansas City in the playoffs. So when he came in, we were a playoff team already. With Derrick Henry and AJ Brown! Coming into New England having to rebuild from scratch should be interesting!

Chad.... we as Raiders fans gladly passes on Varbel!!!

The only place Josh McDaniels can have success when he’s not calling all the shots and that’s been proven. That’s what we have to stand on. That’s the only thing that floats he’s had a plethora of success with Brady, Cassel, Jones, and even Newton, whose time in New England was some of the more fonder things we remember as fans.

Sadly, Jerod’s zero head coaching experience couldn’t be overcome. The team was undisciplined (how many drives killed by penalties), fundamentally unsound, and never showed real confidence or consistency. Felt like I was watching a JV team playing the Varsity opponents. Mayo should be humble enough to realize the truth. Also, don’t forget that arrogant Bill Belichick left things a mess and in disarray.

If this was the Houston, there will be more outrage. This was their plan, but Mayo contract meant the had to make him a head coach. RK is the same as all the other

You can tell neither of these guys have watched a single Pats game this year. I miss Shannon with Skip. I like Ocho, but he seems to never know what he’s talking about.

ITS ABOUT CULTURE! NOT ABOUT RECORD. MAYO PUT HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH EVERY TIME HE SPOKE TO THE MEDIA!!!
@marcuslancaster4326Күн бұрын
As much as I hoped for Mayo to be successful, he was an inexperienced DC getting a HC job after one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time. The writing was on the wall for Jerod unfortunately. I think he was a little too transparent with the media and kind of a little too happy to be there

He had 5 years to get ready to be a HC there is no way he shouldn’t have went 4 and 13

I do not get the giving a coach 1 year and done unless they were the interim coach. They haven't even had time to build a team to their style. I can't see blaming everything on Mayo when we had so many holes to be filled. That being said, I wanted Vrabel to get the job last year. Because he had HC experience.

Unc just ignoring Cincy will have a new DC. They've devoted the last few drafts on the defense. And there's a draft in a few months when it comes to Tee... Come on man...they supposed to take a 180 on the offensive scheme?
@GABECAMPBELLКүн бұрын
You say they can’t turn it around. Washington turned in around in one year. Huston turned it around. Vrabel is a proven coach and had the #1 seed with Ryan Tannehill at QB
@Octavis-o9lКүн бұрын
These ridiculous salaries for WR need to stop, if teams continue down this path NFL teams won’t have a roster longevity. Putting all your money into one stock is foolish and reckless behavior.

When my homie big Red Andy Ried went to Kansas City Chiefs he turned that team completely around. They had One win the season before he got there so a Good New head coach can make a very Big difference 😁👍🏽.

Mayo wasn't prepared (his issue) to perform in the role. Maye is a legit starter and can grow into a good QB - athletic, good arm, smart, competitive. Get a legit LT, a legit #1 WR and more depth at DT / OL and this is a team that can make the playoffs. Over the next 2 years, add more CB/OL/DL/WR skill positions and this can be a good team for the next 3-5 years and compete for a Lombardi.

I don’t think people understand giving a coach 1 year isn’t fair regardless of race, We knew the patriots weren’t a good team and Mayo was used by the organization simple as that, so hell yeah if Vrabel doesn’t win 5 or more games, He should be gone

Titans fan here. I haven't watched a game since we fired Coach Vrabel! Our front office doesn't know what they are doing! We have became a joke of an organization! I know many other Titan fans whom feel the same way I do! It's just one bad move after another! They don't know how to build a team, I bet we end up with a top 3 pick next year as well. I fear there is no Jayden Daniel's or CJ Stroud in this draft. Heck there isn't even a Caleb Williams or Drake May in this class. Watch we will rake a QB at 1, instead of doing anything smart or strategic with it! We just pick whomever looks best at the combine /pro day! How did it come to this?
