The disrespect for NFL receivers is crazy. It’s not just about being athletic and fast. You have to know how to get out of breaks and not be stiff, you have to know how to beat press, know where to sit down in zone coverage, have late hands, track the football. People don’t realize how good NFL corners are and how hard it is to run good routes.

@ceejordan9649
@ceejordan9649 6 ай бұрын
The main thing is actually getting off the line. That shit takes years to master, there are WR's who have been playing football their entire life and still have to work on releasing. I don't think these basketball players realize that an NFL CB is literally one of the best athletes on the planet. They are asked to run backwards as fast as a guy running forward at full speed.

@josephtanner3929 The crazy thing is that people can simply look at what happens to actual NFL players when they miss extended time. Martavious Bryant is a perfect example. Big tall WR running 4.3. The dude had elite physical gifts. He didn't get injured. He got suspended for 5 years. He came back last season, spent a year on the practice squad, got cut twice, and now he is looking for another opportunity somewhere else. Football is a sport that u have to play on a regular basis to get good at it. If you take 2 years off, your skills will diminish. Now imagine not playing since high school, thinking you can go try out and win a spot over other Elite athletes who never stopped playing.

I kinda agree with Austin. Just not on the quantity, maybe like 5 NBA players. First person that came to mind was Zion Williamson, then maybe Aaron Gordon or Anthony Edwards. A prime LeBron for sure, but like LeBron's living proof of human evolution so that goes without saying! The fact that Antonio Gates a college basketball player made it to the NFL without ever playing college football. I can't think of a case where the opposite's ever happened; a college football player with no college basketball making it to the NBA.

Prime Westbrook could be running away from guys if he got the ball on the run. Zion at defensive end would be nasty. 6'6 and 285. That man, if he could learn d-line plays and learn how to shed blocks, he could be nasty because he big, strong, and really quick. Don't know if he could be quick off the line, but man he is explosive.

Antonio Gonzalez and Antonio Gates also played Basketball. But what I will say is those guys were exceptions to the rule. Although you may find a few on one hand that could play in the NFL, your not going to get 30 that can or want to play. A lot of These NFL WR'S and TE'S have played basketball before to some degree. LeBron James who was timed at 4.60 in the 40 yard dash at age 28 would be a fantastic TE. Ja Morant with his leaping ability and speed would be a great WR or CB. There are many NBA players that could athletically play in the NFL. It would take some time to get accustomed to the physicality and at least some NBA players would be able to get accustomed to the physicality and some would quit. It would be easier for NBA players to get accustomed to the physicality of the NFL than it would be for NFL players to develop their skills for the NBA.

40 times are worthless unless they are official laser times. Im skeptical of that 4.6 at age 28 years old. That time he ran came from himself and we know Lebron lies a lot to boost his PR. It means nothing. With all that said, I agree with you on it being an easier transition for any athlete to go into football then it is for another sport. No tf they can't do you understand how physical NFL football is?
@djgomes4366

I’ve played both. And hands down basketball would be harder. A WR will never have to do what a quarterback does. Basketball every position has to do what the other does dribble,shoot,handle, defend, it just requires a lot of skills into one player. If I’m a WR I only have to do what a WR does

You couldn’t be more wrong if you wanted. I’ll give you basketball requires more time developing skills like dribbling, shooting, etc. Football is physically more taxing and requires more punishment which shortens careers. I played both at small college and when it was basketball season it was like having a break from a grueling season. I did get in the best cardio during basketball season, but nothing compared the strain of football.

This also silly because there's many NBA players in today's game that's trash at dribbling, can't shoot and can only really defend or rebound.. This post was super silly fr

Lebron would have been able to play football when he was in his prime, he was an all American in football in high school and if he chose to play football I think it woulda worked out. He’s just a freak athlete. In the nfl I think dk metcalf could play basketball, that dude is a freak athlete

No he couldn't! He has the tools (size, athleticism) to be an NFL player but we have all seen his high school football game footage which his heart was suspect for his superior size. LeBron can barely take the contact in the NBA now without complaining or flopping. There's no flopping in the NFL. NFL players would end him in the first live period. Technique, Heart and "Want to"(Courage) separates the wannabees from the players. Too many failed experiments with hoopers trying to make the league. Gates and Graham both played CFB first.

Lmfao na football players say this to make themselves better. Truth is if you’re athletic enough to play both sports and don’t pick the nba you’re not very smart. It’s more money, the money is more guaranteed, you can become a household name easily since we can see your face, women love basketball players more, it’s less physical yet more money, you can also have a longer career playing in the nba than the nfl. Stop it.

Athletic enough don't have anything to do with skill. And nobody said it was smarter to play in the NFL. All football players say you have to be tapped to play.

@@JasenMinus You obviously can’t read. I said for those that are athletic enough to be able to play both it’s smarter to chose basketball for the reasons I listed. Secondly to become a professional at any sport, athleticism is one of if not the primary factor
@JasenMinus
@JasenMinus 6 ай бұрын
@@BenBanko no shit, but literally, less athletic players play in the NBA because they have specific roles. In the NFL, you have like 2 or 3 non athletic positions and they involve kicking. Let's not be obtuse. And again, being athletic enough ISNT being skilled enough to play both. I can go out and play basketball and football, but not at the high skill level needed. Again, your mixing skills with athletics. They aren't the same.

Bro, that's because the size of rosters is significantly smaller in the NBA. You have a ridiculously better chance of making money in the NFL vs the NBA. Like how many mfs are getting offers like Kyler did where he could've played Baseball or Football and still made hella bread? Theres like 7 people on the whole planet with that kind of opportunity. Get real

Prime example is lebron and Anthony Edward.Both played football and built like football players.Anthony look like he's moving two times faster than the average basketball player that only played basketball.And he have that NFL burst he can run right past a defender with the ball. Strength wise he can play against anybody and come down the lane with anybody.A seven foot 240 pound center ain't nothing compared to a Dt that's 6'7 and 330 pounds ready to take your head off.Im going to take on the seven foot guy. I've seen 6"6 football players that played basketball keep up with pro's all day and also seen basketball players trying to play football and they look slow ass hell. No disrespect for basketball players but when it comes to athleticism football players on a whole different level.

He exaggerated by saying 30, I’d say 4 maybe. This has already been proven with NFL players like Gates and Mo allie cox, who weren’t good enough to play in the NBA come in and play tight end without any college football experience. If NFL players could play in the NBA they would. & theirs players like Charlie ward, Allen Iverson, & Nate Robinson that were actually better at football than basketball.
