This song actually speaks to me on a very personal level. I chased self-improvement to the point that I replaced most of the entertainment I consumed with self-improvement content; I'm already looking for courses and programs that will get me the proper qualifications for a well-paying job in IT. I'm only 17. For almost two years, there was a feeling dwelling inside me that told me, "You're not enough. But don't worry, you can be." I wanted financial freedom in my early twenties. I wanted a partner who ticked off everything on a list of standards that I thought were reasonable. To become worthy of someone like that, I held myself to the same standards. This went on and on, and I got into more and more conversations with the people around me regarding how I was aiming too high and that I would drive myself into depression if I slipped up. They were sort-of right. I have to go see a therapist soon because I'm exhibiting a lot of signs of anxiety and Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and I have to get a session to make sure. But then I found a quote that, as cliché as it sounds, more-or-less changed the way I think. It was: "Just because you can't have Perfect, doesn't mean you can't have Very Good." I realised that I might not be able to get everything that I wanted when I wanted it, even if I put in the due diligence at whatever expense. But that doesn't mean I can't look and feel good, and I can also appear that way to others while doing so. It's not a "Be yourself even though everyone will hate you" scenario. I can still be financially successful at a fairly young age; I'm not doomed to waste my time at a 9-5 until I'm forty unless I'm too lazy to take any action. I can build a great future for myself with work-life balance. I can still be someone that I like and attract people that I like; I just have to understand that all people have their own degree of pride, insecurity, greed, and immaturity. That's not all, and not even most or half of what I am. I can have a partner who is an awesome person who doesn't tick off any of my pet peeves ( which are reasonable; I consulted others to confirm ). I am worthy. I can already reciprocate what I want. I just have to understand that no one can be mature, smart, well-dressed, or take good care of themselves 100% of the time. More often than not, we let our sloppy sides show at an appropriate time. It's not like you have to have a partner that reenacts one of those Instagram couple texting posts inappropriately. You two could be full well aware that you're joking around, and no one needs to get annoyed
