Because the original Nightcore just did that genre? Then shouldn't it be limited to songs that they actually speed-edited themselves? The expanding of a definition of a word is something that happens, it's the evolution of language for better or worse. By popular definition (and perhaps original definition, depending on who the first to use and popularize the term after the band's disappearance intended) Nightcore refers to a pleasant speed and pitch edit regardless of the original category the song belonged to. Also, speed-edit doesn't sound nearly as catchy as Nightcore.
