I wish I was in the land of cotton, Old times there are not forgotten; Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! In Dixie Land where I was born in, Early on one frosty morning, Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! Oh I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray! In Dixie Land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! Old Missus married "Will the Weaver"; William was a gay deceiver! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! But when he put his arm around her, Smiled as fierce as a forty-pounder! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! Oh I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray! In Dixie Land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver; But that did not seem to grieve her! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! Old Missus acted the foolish part And died for a man that broke her heart! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! Oh I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray! In Dixie Land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie! (Instrumental) Now here's a health to the next old missus And all the gals that want to kiss us! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! But if you want to drive away sorrow, Come and hear this song tomorrow! Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie Land! Oh I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray! @Mike Wazowski I like, how you deliberately wrote "modern", I guess, you did quick Google search, and find out that Engels and Marx demanded guns ownership for populace? Well, I don't know any prominent commie figures in modern politics in America, but where I'm from they don't share opinions on this subject. However, you are calling Bernie commie, without any evidence, even though he call himself socialist, and run on social-democratic platform... It's like me, calling Trump fascist.
@MenRot4 жыл бұрын
@Mike Wazowski "National socialist" was just PR campaign name, nazi didn't care about economics, so they take popular term to describe themselves, like Russian nationalist party who call themselves "Liberal Democratic Party of Russia", nazi allied with conservatives, and big corporations, and run on ideas of tradition and stuff, in other words, there is nothing common between Bernie and nazi, why do you even bring them? Because of example, with Trump and fascist? Anyway, I'm from Kazakhstan.
@mjgamer55124 жыл бұрын
Nurauzhan .Kushkinbayev well the definition of communism is often different than the actual definition due to the Russians coming up with their own form of “communism.” However, since communism theoretically has never been practiced, we can only use the perverse version of communism as a reference point. Both the CCP and USSR r the only reference points we have and they promoted a disarmed populace. Engels and Marx supported an armed populace because that was the only way they can fight against corporations and big government. However they also mention after a worldwide revolution, there would be a proletariat dictatorship. Dictators take guns. I rest my case that pursuing a communist society leads to the disarmament of society

In the end, both the confederates and the US were always the US. A civil war should not drive apart a country for ever. It should be healed with time and working together to keep the country together

I asked for this for months. And for some knock off to come along. Why not? I think it’s catchy and the original is better anyways. (Despite the south being objectively better than the Yankee hellhole that is y’all’s cities that hate guns) Just don’t start another war of northern aggression (which given what y’all are doing in glorious Virginia, y’all are pushing for it)

When the Americans arrived in Great Britain during the Great War, the band played "Dixie" to greet because it was the only song the band knew that was American. And it would make sense they knew "Dixie" since Britain supported the Confederacy during the American Civil War.
@PaulSmith-ju3cv Жыл бұрын
Neither Britain nor France recognised the Confederacy except as a belligerent and had no diplomatic relations with it, remaining neutral throughout. In fact the Confederacy even sent minstral shows over in a vain attempt to shift public opinion on the matter (this may have been why Dixie was known there, though the later arrival of cake-walk troupes might have helped). Ironically, it was liberal bigwigs in the UK who supported the South as their wealth often depended on southern cotton.
