"what we have is real, and real can hurt sometimes" Very true, but I also think that insulting each other and putting each other down isn't part of a normal healthy relationship. Sure, occasionally we lose our tempers but insulting one another should not be a common occurrence. If anything, I'd say it's a major red flag. Both people need to take a moment to review their actions and figure out what is going wrong. It's normal to disagree, and even occasionally argue. It's normal to get mad at each other sometimes, but that anger shouldn't lead you to insult your significant other or purposely sabotage them in some way. If it does then either one or both of you need professional help, or the relationship needs to end.
