Thanks Dave. Love seeing all these vintage helicopters brings back many memories especially at 0:36. I used to have a MFA500 shown in the black and white photo. I still fly myself these days, I have an Align Trex 550, 700, Predator pro with a 31cc Honda 4 stroke in it and a Miniature Aircraft X-Cell Sprectra G (gasser). Cheers, Aaron.

Haha. I hope so. Definitely not my first. Flew nitro planes and helicopters for years first, and as you may have seen in my last video, the very first electric helicopter, the Skylark EH 1. My very first was U Control. Definitely fly by wire. Thanks much.

This little Jet-Ranger lookes so great and it's like always in your series fascinating to see how the beginnings of this wonderful hobby have been - and how many osticles and challenges had to be overcome. I believe we would not be here where we are now if we there would not have been pioneers like you who never gave up! So a big thank you from all of us new pilots benefitting from todays advanced technologies that make flying so much easier.

After experimenting with the Skylarks and ETRM's, I managed to get my hands on the AiSonic Master EH electric helicopter. 35 years ago, it was marketed as the smallest helicopter in the world. It was fun to fly, but had some very weak parts, so didn't last long. So I Hyperfly modded it to keep it going. Thanks for watching. Please click the like button and subscribe too. Thanks Kindly. ~Dave

Thank You for publishing another great video. I have just started to watch it, but I wanted to share my fondness for smaller RC aircraft, especially after flying primarily indoors these days. That helicopter resembles the real helicopters that I used to ride in, when DIGITAL (Digital Equipment Corporation) back in the 1980s had the largest fleet of non-commercial helicopters in the world. We used to have our own terminal at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), and a dedicated Aviation Services department in the company. I am not familiar at all with any of the vintage RC helicopters, although a few friends of mine around that same time were enthusiasts and informed me that like golf, that it was a very expensive hobby, that took a lot of time to master, but was very rewarding and relaxing at the same time. I have had a Blade Nano for a few years, and I somewhat recently acquired an AI-capable version of the C127 which is amazingly easy to fly, although I really cannot determine how well the supposed optical flow feature operates. Unlike the Nano, it is fixed-pitch, and does not require as much concentration to fly, and there appears to be little or no possibility of an experienced pilot worrying about it becoming "touchy" in narrow spaces, if you know what I mean. I have yet to actually try out the AI object detection and identification features, as it requires a phone to connect to the "heli / drone", via the 802.11ac protocol, which the phone that I use does not offer. I did acquire a very inexpensive and previously-used phone online that is one model up fro mine that should work OK, which I may try out sometime soon. I have not been too motivated or inspired to do so yet however, since I have read accounts from many pilots that have expressed some disappointment in using WIFI-based FPV due to the lag time. Some have even modified some of their aircraft to replace the WIFI-based FPV with an integrated 5.8Ghz module, and have published videos covering their conversion. Unfortunately at least for the C127AI, this would prohibit the AI featured from working, since "all that work" is done within an "app" that runs on "the phone". So far, for privacy concerns due to somewhat recent "observation", I have covered the FPV camera in the "heli", and I am not sure at this time to know the details of the WIFI-based FPV system. The "heli / drone" appears to become a non-secured WIFI "hot-spot of sorts", and seemingly does not need a password to connect to. I really do not wish to provide folks in the nearby vicinity with a "flying security camera", if you will, if you know what I mean. In any case, I do not wish to tire anyone's eyes, so I will close out this comment. I look forward to resuming the viewing of your video. _John_ (-,-)

Hi Dave, I do remember reading your articles in the heli magazines. Had subscriptions to all of them. My VHS camera was about twice the size of yours and had to rest it on your shoulder. They did make the viewfinder movable so you could use it either on the right or left shoulder. VHS tape recordings were pricey in those days. I bought many but don't were they live now. You and Ilea stay safe.
@NightFlyyer5 ай бұрын
Right on Don. Yeah, I had a RCA Panasonic also which is a little bigger and like this one you can move the viewfinder from left to right and I had to carry it on the shoulder. Also had a big recorder that hung on my waist that was destroyed on the fire. Wish I could find another battery recorder for this camera but I still have a Sony handy cam that records on VHS C. So again, thanks a lot and you stay safe and well too.

@@NightFlyyer Hi Dave, Thinking back, had to activate some of that old gray matter, it was a Magnavox camera. I think it was very similar to the Panasonic in those days. Still have a Panasonic VHS player because it has frame by frame slow motion. I should but a tape in it to see if it still plays. Have a few VHS tapes around here on using a lathe and milling machine. And again thanks for your service.

Well, 35-year-old videotapes that have been through a fire explains the video quality. And it had been through many crashes with no parts available so we glued them back together and it’s still worked.
