Nighthaven are working for Deimos? - R6 Lore Theory

Nighthaven have been a large part in the lore of Rainbow Six Siege for years at this point, and there has always been a suspicion that they have had dark intentions... well there could be a chance they they are working with the villian Deimos after all.

I think it could be true night haven works for demios I get the overused story vibe that night haven refuses to kill rainbow so he betrays them in some way then the story shifts to the enemy of my enemy is my friend type of story

I do think someone in nighthaven is working with Deimos, and I think it's smoke. See everyone would think it's Ela bc of her disillusion with her family and her past as an undercover agent, but I think that twist is too easy and everyone is expecting it, so my theory is that smoke is actually the traitor. My reasonings are extremely simple, his kid, I think at some point Deimos learned where the sas was hiding his kid and infiltrated them to kidnap her, and after confronting smoke, he gave him a choice, give him information on both of the organizations or he would kill smoke's daughter. The reason that smoke was the prime candidate for infiltrating both is obvious, he's already in rainbow, and it would easily be able to convince nighthaven that he would like to join for his kids future, which would be true, just not in the way they think. And why smoke would at first refuse, after Deimos showed smoke just how far he has infiltrated the information network of the sas, smoke would know that there's no way he can tell his fellow operators, but maybe he told harry and that's why harry knew to begin gathering information on Deimos, and it's even the perfect cover for smoke to begin to betray Deimos. Harry knew about old rainbow, so he'd already knew (and probably kept track of) Deimos, so Deimos wouldn't automatically assume smoke betrayed him. And maybe Harry told smoke to keep working for Deimos, just until he could find his kid, then rescue them, but now that Harry is dead, smoke is trapped working for Deimos until rainbow or nighthaven learn of his betrayal and confront him. Plus this works for both a traitor storyline and not needing to make smoke a villian, bv he didn't want to betray rainbow or nighthaven, maybe he didn't even want to be in nighthaven, but he didn't have a choice in the end. This would even make sense as to why Deimos had access to rainbow cams in his intro cinematic and how he can keep tabs on the operators missions so well.

Looking at it, there are two theories which I think could work rather well for how Deimos got the gear from NH. Theory 1 - He bought them. We know Deimos had a lot of money prior to his 1-1 with Viper Strike. It's likely that NH are also a weapons dealer as when we see the guns in the cinematic for Y8, they appear to be standard guns including the KRISS Vector. With the fact NH is a PMC, reputation is their top priority, so it's possible Khali was saving face by saying the weapons were "stolen". Theory 2 - Deimos recruited NH defectors. We know Deimos has soldiers that he views as expendable since he was willing to let them die by opening the cargo door. With this understanding, it could be possible that he isn't afraid of losing a few soldiers since he can just persuade more to join him. Also it's likely Khali was forced not to interfere in the current situation as Deimos is viewed as a terrorist threat, meaning only a CTU should be in charge of operations. Even though NH is based outside of the power of any governments, they would still require approval to participate on such a high risk operation, but due to their ties to it they are forbidden from doing so.

I think that one of the operators that left might be the traitor, because Deimos is unhappy with the current state of Rainbow and one of them might have a chip on their shoulder. I know it's not 100% sound, but it would make sense that the militas got their hands on the gear when no one else could. It also explains how the architect was kidnapped so easily while working with the largest PMC in the world, and would be in close contact.

Deimos somehow gets the recordings from Kali on why r6 ops left for nighthaven and he ended up blackmailing one of the ops in order to get those nighthaven weapons without kali noticing. Is another thing that I’ve thought could of happened

Its funny you mention a rouge agent within Nighthaven - I was thinking that too. Though my big kinda speculative theory is that the operators that left R6 are actually undercover within Nighthaven and will end up saving Kali and other Nighthaven Operators from a Deimos takeover of Nighthaven. So I think Harry saw that Kali was likely to leave R6 and was trying to poach operators. I think Harry also possibly knew about Deimos at this time. So, Harry had a team of 5 operators pretend to be convinced to defect and join Nighthaven so that he could keep an eye on Nighthaven, and determine if they were a threat/working with Deimos. I recall you had a "Ela Undercover" video a while back which theorized that Ela was a defector and that Zofia of all people was part of Ghosteyes, maybe as Ela's R6 contact, and that they used their previous drama with each other as Ela's cover. That video got me thinking. I have a few extra points here to back up the idea that the whole team of defectors are undercover. The first is the lineup of operators that defected. If Harry wanted an undercover team, it would be useful to have operators who can see through walls (Pulse and IQ), a couple "problem children" operators to act as cover as to why they want to leave, and who can delay a pursuit in the case that their cover is blown and they need to flee (Smoke and Ela), and a medic in case somebody gets hurt (Finka). Also, IQ is a tech whiz, Smoke is a chemist, and Finka is a CBRN specialist. They have the ability to look at Nighthaven's resources and determine what's up with all their fancy gadgetry and other stuff, and see if anything looks to be dangerous/a problem for world safety/etc. Lastly, of the lineup, 3 are operators that have been with the program since Rainbow was reactivated, and Ela and Finka have also been with Rainbow for a while now. None of these are newly recruited operators and they've probably built up a lot of trust over time. IE Harry trusts them to go undercover and not just straight up defect. So their job would be to vet Nighthaven - notice how Pulse is bros with Ace, IQ is friends with Osa, and Smoke seems to be working with Grim (I forget if the other ops are friends with anybody off the top of my head). I feel like they're probably trying to vet the personnel as well, not just what prototypes/equipment/fancy technology Nighthaven has. Also this is how Cav/Solis knows that Kali isn't the bad guy here, because they got that info fed to them by the undercover "defectors" who were able to vet Kali. So this is where we get into the highly speculative theory territory. I think that Nighthaven will be the target of a takeover by Deimos - it kinda makes sense after the fake out that Nighthaven were the bad guys that there are some Deimos aligned moles working within Nighthaven. Making the fake out kinda true and kinda false at the same time. I wonder if Deimos is slowly trying to take over Nighthaven for their technology, resources and possibly personnel. Deimos apparently lost a lot of resources in the Brava cinematic, so he might need to get some more from somewhere else. Also explaining the need to take over Nighthaven now as opposed to earlier. I could see this coming as the big cinematic for the next year. The Rainbow defectors will probably play a big role in getting Kali, the other Nighthaven Ops, and any other loyal personnel out and back to the safety of Rainbow because they already have an escape strategy since they were undercover all along. It would make for an epic cinematic of Nighthaven HQ burning with Pulse, Smoke and IQ trying to get everybody out safely, as Finka desperately tries to save the life of one of the people that got shot/injured on the way out, and Ela spams Zofia with increasingly panicked calls for help as they're being hunted down by rouge Nighthaven operatives and Deimos's forces in the jungles. But the thing is that Zofia is hurt. And its Zero or Hibana or Doc or maybe a collaborative all 4 units operation that comes to save them. Maybe this will turn into that Deimos vs Zero showdown you were theorizing about earlier? Like what a cinematic that would be, eh? Although part of me wants to see a Grim vs Deimos fight instead, like I feel like Grim is the kind of character that could absolutely take on Deimos in a 1v1. Maybe Deimos fights Grim first, squeaks out a victory though some underhanded means or just pure luck favoring him, which leaves Grim injured, and then lets him be able to fight for a showdown against Sam later on in the cinematic. IDK, I feel like this is getting into extremely speculative territory and Ubisoft could very well take the story in some other direction, but like dang wouldn't that be cool?

Honestly I don't think NightHaven works or worked for Deimos. (Deimos is the new leader of the White Masks? Is a better theory. ) Kali is overprotective with her Sniper so she would definitely be Protective over her Weapons and Gear. It's literally just Deimos pulling all the strings. Mohata's death, stealing NightHaven's weapons & gear giving it to the Biker Gang as a setup And especially killing Harry. Deimos definitely has some Moles in Rainbow just because he's always 5 steps ahead of them. How else would he know their current plans? He knows how they act because Harry put them on the Main screen plus he Ran Rainbow in the past. (Patriots.) But I think he also has a Mole in NightHaven because how else would he get their weapons and gear? Honestly I think he's going to be the Big Bad for awhile until Rainbow and NightHaven can bring him back to the light. (Making him a playable Operator.) Or NightHaven and Rainbow will team up and kill him together.

Speaking with Harry, he wanted his old ways back, as Harry took that away, leading Rainbow into less of a elite killer unit. He was "Six" from before Aurelia Arnot took over as "Six" in 2015, very likely he could be Deimos in this, and would at least be familiar with Aurelia and later on Harry, being the black sheep of the group so to speak. Just a theory, but it could be fairly plausible.

I bring up my previous question, how could Deimos steal all that equipment from NIGHTHAVEN with all that security? Kali is so strict with their tech she forbade anyone in Rainbow from analyzing any of it. So how could any of that just walk out without her noticing? Either she's really inept, Deimos is a ghost, or Kali LET the gear be stolen, Deimos paints her as the victim. This gets NIGHTHAVEN and Rainbow to at least partner up, so NIGHTHAVEN can turn on Rainbow all at once, and personally.

I still think Harry was almost like a double agent. With every plot line the common thread is Harry. He brought in NH. He made the plan to split Rainbow into separate squads. He knew Deimos by name and vice versa. Deimos *seemed* to have some sort of respect for Harry, almost like he felt betrayed when harry started the Stadium Training, and telling Harry that he'd "tell them you went out swinging". I think Deimos is the R6 Patriots "Six" that you mentioned in your one theory video. And I think he and Harry were brought in as a duo "Six", with Harry being the face of the operations and Deimos being more of the logistics side of things (hence his affinity for tactics like the bomb that put Ash in a coma and framing NH for the assassination of Yahata). Then Harry started the Stadium and Deimos got mad and departed on bad terms. He wanted to bring Rainbow back to "elite killers" (like what's hinted at in the Patriots trailer and like what Cav says in Ghost Recon, being almost ashamed of "Operation Patriots"), or see them crumble. And now he's exacting his plan to see Rainbow crumble because Harry betrayed his trust. (Plus we already know Deimos has relatively easy access to Harry's board, whether he just snuck in or was welcomed. I think he was welcomed as an "old friend" so to speak.)
