...you're preaching to the choir, I've known that the Nighhawk S was and still is an excellent sport tourer, even of my 55 year old body aches more now!

I used to have that EXACT bike back when I first started riding around 1997. I miss that bike. Few years back bought a new 2017 CB500X and reminds me of it, obviously not as fast and sporty, but has the feel of it, the comfort and also it's the same color.

Wonderful videos, thank you both! I am the proud new owner of a '85 700S, 39K mi., and in excellent shape, thanks to the previous owner. Since March 1st I have put just over 1K mi. on her, wonderful! She even has a name now, Celine; we are in love already. She's my 5th bike (I am now old), 4th Honda (1 Suzuki was enough!), and biggest bike yet; at first I thought she was too much for me at my age, and I still think that (maybe I should have imported a Honda Wave 125 from Thailand, also a winner), but we are getting used to each other now, and I am trying to remain slow and cautious, but she makes that hard, since she's not really made for Grampa driving. I would have bought her just so I could hear her engine purr, love that sound! Eventually, the only thing for sure I would like to change is to go to the chrome exhaust that I see on the '83 650, can you tell me if that fits on the '85 700S? Thank you, William Portland, Oregon

Yeah they are not super common here either. Only 84-85-86 models. Absolutely love these bikes. I really want to get another and swap a 700 head into 750 and do a racer build.

Good video. I'm about ready to start on my 1986 700s nighthawk. Has only 10 000 original miles on it. Second owner..can't wait to see more videos..

Hey I was thinking about your oil leak at the starter. In the past, I’ve had crankcase oil leaks that seemed to not go away until I fixed the crankcase vent. Either the vent hose was broken or missing, AND/OR the pcv check valve was malfunctioning and allowing positive pressure to build. Just something to think about.
@rulehardgarage9740
@rulehardgarage9740 5 жыл бұрын
I'll check into that. My crank vent on this is vented through a small filter. I've eliminated the oil trap from the air filter

Very informative. Any idea where I can get front right and left stays (stems). I have a 1985 CB750SC Canadian model.

I tried synthetic oil in my bike which is a Canadian 750s nighthawk. It started slipping soon thereafter
@rulehardgarage9740
@rulehardgarage9740 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's what I thought the issue was with this because I was using clutch approved synthetic. But I've switched to standard rotella already. I had the other two major issues too. I think between all those issues it was just a big compounding issue.

You don't need front breaks on your nighthawk either....shave a pound off the front end. Easier to wheelie that way
@scottiesguns

@@jeffrygagnon5506 nah dude. I don't have front brakes on any of my bikes. Even took them off my car and my van. I usually just use a tree or a wall to slow me down.

holy fuck man - don't make a video if you don't have proper equipment/don't know how to properly use your equipment. If how you make a video is any indication of how you treat your bike, don't worry about the maintenance -- that poor thing isn't going to last much longer.

It certainly has a lot of similar features as the Honda gl500. Shaft drive, low maintnence valve train, grab bar, adjustable handle bars.... Ticks about every box as a tourer but with a sporty engine... Sport touring maybe?
